Up and at 'em pal! Minnie joined Mickey this morning for our first official wake up call. I was ready to go but the kids needed some convincing. First difference in this trip as in the past they are bouncing out of bed the first few days. DS was the hardest to get up and I wasn't sure we were going to make it to AK for EE. Finally out the door and we needed to stop at Everything Pop to pick up Pal Mickey. We had won $60 in a 50/50 drawing months ago and put it away for Pal Mickey. I wanted to rent him first to make sure we liked him and I had heard that AK was a great park for him to visit. Our stop at the gift shop was quick and the CMs were very helpful. 10 minutes later we were at the bus stop. A little later than planned but its vacation so I will just go with the flow. Ok so I told DS if he couldn't get up for EE this trip we wouldn't do it but he had better be prepared to stand in lots of long lines. Mean Mommy.

We arrived at AK at 8am and hustled to the gate, making sure to face Pal Mickey forward. It was raining, just a persistant mist, but it made the weather cooler. We hot footed it over to the Safaris and had a little bit of a wait. That's what getting here at open will do. If we had been on time we could have walked right on. Grrrr! We were all a little grumpy this morning and really trying to feel the magic. Pal Mickey was trying as well by letting us in on AK secrets and telling us corney jokes. We finally had seats on the safari and it started raining much harder. Just to let you know the tarps over you can leak. It took a while to figure out where we kept getting water from but I finally saw the tarp rubbing against the supports and that's where our drips came from.

Our guide was good but since there was quire a line behind us the safaris kept at a pretty good pace. I had my new digital with a pretty good zoom and was looking forward to some pictures but it takes a minute for it to focus so by the time I did we were off again and my shots were blurry. Darn! I did get a few good shots but was afraid to take the time to zoom and fix my focus because I would loose my shot. The animals were very active and we saw both the male and female lion out.

After the Safari we stoped to look at some pins and wandered over towards Dinoland. We grabbed a FP for Primeval Whirl and hoped in a short standby line for Dinosaur. DD doesn't really like this ride but didn't want to wait for us either. I couldn't remember which side the big Dino pops out so we took a shot and it was on my side. Good because DD would have been mad at me if I was wrong. FP fro PW was ready so we tackled that, or I should say it tackled me! That was the roughest ride I have ever had on here and I don't know it I'll ride it again. I was sliding all over the place and with the rain my feet couldn't even stay solid to help keep me from being trown about. I came off here with bruises and some not very Disney like words coming out of my mouth.

I thought maybe seeing my favorite show would cheer me up so we went over to see Festival of the Lion King. As soon as they took the stage I had a huge smile on my face! :sunny: Unfortunately as soon as the show was over the kids started their bickering again. We saw ITTBAB and I just love when newbies don't know what's going to happen. LOL In this line I had a little Japanese boy showing me his glasses. He thought they were so cool. We couldn't understand each other but knew just what we were talking about all the same. He's got the magic.

It was time for lunch and one of my favorite places to eat Tusker House. The rain had kept up so we were a little damp and DS was complaining about his feet. He wore sandles today and they were prunes and starting to rub. It didn't help that he had to jump in every puddle along the way. Maybe a good meal will cheer us up. Three meal deals and we were feeling better. We had musical entertainment while we ate and a boy about my sons age busted a move with the performer. It was too funny!

After lunch the bickering started up again and I had just about had it. Now this is the kids 6th trip to WDW and if they had acted this way on the previous trips they never would have been back. I was not having lots of fun and they were stressing me out. It was time to get our ice cream and drinks and head out of the park. We didn't have long to wait for a bus and were soon back in the room. I made us all dry out a bit before we did anything else.

Next pt 2 - Wishes and a melt down worthy of a toddler.

Gee, bobcat, all this sounds so familiar.... I thought only I had trips like this! It was sooo hot though, and it drains all the energy out of people, I think that's why everybody gets the grumpys.

Great report ~ Thanx for sharing.

Luved the pix.
