Is this restaurant unique to the new Bergen Mall (which is now called the Bergen Town Center)? Or is this the name of a chain?

I took my 13 yo son out last night to buy a new pair of sneakers. He found an awesome pair at the Nike Outlet, which was an impressive store, then we ate dinner at BBP's.

The burgers and milkshakes were delicious, but I was less impressed with the fries. They didn't taste as "fresh" as the ones we get at Five Guys. Prices were on the high side, but overall, it was a fun and tasty place to dine. I really liked the different sauces they offered too.

BTW, the Bergen Town Center is pretty cool too. They have an Ulta store in the parking lot that I would have enjoyed exploring, but we had to get home and feed the dog. Over the upcoming long weekend, I'm going to take my son and his friends back there to spend a day.

Just googled it....Bobby Flay owns them :lovestruc. Looks like there is 4 locations 2 in NJ, 1 in NY and 1 in CT.

I want one!!!

I read a review in our local paper that said it was owned by Bobby Flay so I knew that. The sauces they offer definitely give it a gourmet feel. They've got chipotle ketchup, jalapeno hot sauce, and a delicious burger sauce that has chunks of fresh onion and garlic. The fries come with a sauce that tastes like a thinned chipotle mayonnaise.

It's very nicely decorated too--pretty tile everywhere--and curved counters with matched curved lighting fixtures.

We really liked it, and the dog got half a burger himself. (I knew my son wouldn't finish a whole burger, but I couldn't talk him into ordering the child's version.)

I haven't been there yet (or 5 Guys, or Elevation Burger), but I would like to try it out soon! Some co-workers of mine have been and they said it was good. I like that you can 'crunchify' any burger - add potato chips to it, lol.

I also haven't been to the Bergen Mall, er Bergen Town Center, since there was a Newberry's and Sterns in it! My grandma would bring us to eat lunch in the restaurant at Sterns and we thought it was soooo cool, lol! I did see the Magic Garden on tour at the Bergen Mall in the theater they had there when I was little too!

I've got to get over there, I wouldn't mind checking out Ulta either! :) My sister who lives in FL looked at me like I had 6 heads when I was down there a couple of years ago and didn't know what an Ulta was!

Newberry's and the Magic Garden! Wow, you're really dating yourself there, luvpooh! ;) I haven't thought about Newberry's in years. For a long time, there was a CVS at the same location where Newberry's was. I can't say what's there now because they've really changed the whole mall, and we didn't take the time last night to explore it.

You have to see it, Luvpooh, because it really looks beautiful. It has Century 21, Target and Whole Foods now.

I actually live very close to the Bergen mall, but do the bulk of my shopping nearer to where I work so I'm usually at Paramus Park or the Fashion Center. Have you been to the Fairway Market at the Fashion Center? That is my new favorite place to go while on lunch. I get either a salad at the grab and go, or some hot food from the buffet. I love their olive bar and fresh ground coffee. If you haven't visited it yet, you must. :)

We've been there twice and love it! We get the sweet potatoe fries and they have been delicious. The first time we went I had the Dallas BBQ burger crunchified. Last time I got the October special - Nacho Burger.

It's a pain for us to ge there, otherwise we would be there all the time. So that is probably a good thing. We are getting a 5 Guys in the neighborhood soon.

thanks! and I guess I am dating myself, lol. I definitely want to go check it out soon, hopefully when there isn't scads of traffic between 17 and 4! (which I guess is on a Sunday, but that kind of defeats the purpose) :) I wonder if the Century 21 is nicer than the one in Morristown, my mom and sis love that one, but it just bugs me b/c it seems so crowded and messy all the time.

Paramus Park was 'my mall' in HS, it was the closest to where I lived then.

Yes, I have been to Fairway, and so funny you say that, my friend and I both LOVE the olive bar and the coffee! We got Kona there and were like, ahhhh, the Polynesian, lol.

I've been eating hot dogs and bologna sandwiches "crunchified" for years. Didn't know there was a term for it. :lmao:

We just got a Five Guys by us.....was all excited - we walked in and there are PEANUTS everywhere and they fry in peanut oil. DD has life threatening peanut allergy so no one in our family eat them. So I guess I'll never have a 5 Guys :(

Thanks Luvpooh and Lora, now I know what "crunchified" means. It said on the menu you could get any burger "crunchified", but we didn't know what it meant and didn't ask. Because we sat at the counter, we did see a lot of "crunchified" burgers and wondered why so many burgers were being served with chips on them.

I had the bacon bleu burger, and it was very good, especially with the Burger Sauce. DS had the "classic" (and so did the dog). The meat is high quality and appears to be freshly ground.

I do prefer the fries at Five Guys, though--specifically, the Cajun flavored fries. They're addicting! And I'd better stop thinking about them or I'll be craving them for lunch.

We've had a Bobby's Burger Palace here in Monmouth County for about a year. Ds even had his picture taken with Bobby Flay and I have it on my phone.

We love the burgers and the shakes. I enjoy the sweet potato fries but dh didn't like them as much as he did the last time we went.

Oooh, I want my picture taken with Bobby Flay. :lovestruc I have such a crush on him.

Might be in Paramus area Thanksgiving weekend...will have to check it out! DH loves Bobby Flay (don't think he has a CRUSH on him tho ;)), but he won't be with me.

I remember when my aunt worked at Sterns many many MANY years ago. All the girl cousins got the same nightgowns from there for Christmas one year. Was that the place with the big abstract painting on the building?

I really hope your DH doesn't have a crush on Bobby Flay. ;) I'm a sucker for a redheaded man. Hair darkens on most adults, so when a man's hair stays red into adulthood, I find it so handsome. :)

The Stern's was a Macy's for a while and now it's Century 21. Century 21 is kind of hit or miss, but when it's a hit, that store sells awesome shoes at unreal prices.

The big abstract painting was on the Alexander's store that was in the cloverleaf of Routes 4 and 17. The cloverleaf is gone now; the roads are all re-configured and do run smoother. The Alexander's closed down years before they did redid the roads; I don't know what happened to the painting. I'm going to Google it and see if I can find out because I can't imagine it was destroyed when the building was demolished. People used to say the artist did it by pouring out buckets of paint and skiing through it.

Now there is an Ikea and a Christmas Tree Shoppe where the Alexander's building used to stand. What was Korvette's (a little east on 4) is now a Kohl's.

Ah, progress!

I live in the area and I went to Bobby's Burger palace a few weeks ago. I didn;t get fries, but the burger and the chocolate shake I got were reallly good. It can get crowded, I've driven past when there have been lines out the door.

I can't believe how good the crappy Bergen Mall looks now. LOL

Paramus Park is still my mall of choice, though.;)
Garden State Plaza is great, but only if I go first thing on a weekday, never on a weekend.
We've gone to On the Border(which is in the parking lot, not inside the mall) on a Saturday and it's taken 25 minutes to get out of the Plaza parking lot.
Grrrr.
But they have the best movie theater around..and it's cheap! $6 if you go before noon-we go on Sundays sometimes. It's so quiet.

The Alexander's mural is in storage, they didn't destroy it.

Korvette's, lol, my mom and I were talking about that not long ago. And Two Guys that was on Rt 17 in Hackensack(?)

And Jahn's, that was on Rt 4 that is now the River Palm Terrace. I remember going to Jahn's after school concerts and stuff to 'celebrate'!

That "LOL" has to be a joke! I think it's stunning and a huge improvement!

I hear you about the GSP. I took the kids there a few weeks ago when it was raining and it was a nightmare! I hate to say it, but you'd never think there is a recession if you go there on a Saturday afternoon.

Yeah, ITA, Paramus Park is the best. It's the easiest to park at and has great stores. It's a stone's throw from my office so I shop there a lot on my lunch hour.

Yes, I was laughing at how awful Bergen Mall used to be. Now as Bergen Town Center it's fantastic.

I can't wait to check out Ulta. I was there maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago and it wasn't open yet, I was there last week and it was, but I was in a rush and just had time to go into Target.

I don't remember Jahn's personally because that's in Fair Lawn, and we rarely, if ever, ventured past Paramus when I was a kid. I don't know why, but I don't recall ever driving that far out on Route 4 when I was growing up.

There were lots of Two Guys stores around in the 60's/70's. I think that was my parents' favorite store! The Two Guys in Hackensack that's on Hackensack Avenue next to Route 4 is now where the Five Guys is. It has a Home Depot, Staples and a Pathmark, but my favorite thing there is the Five Guys and their Cajun fries.

MaryAnnDVC, would you please clear out some of your PMs? I tried to send you one, but your box is full. :)
