I have always skipped over this restaurant in my research on WDW restaurants, but I just looked at it today on the WDW website and the menu and interior looks GREAT! My boys (4&5) would love it! I haven't found any reviews on it, has anyone been there? What's the word? Thanks! Heidi.

We found it to be mediocre at best. The food was all right, but nothing to write home about.

I'll definitely admit that my view on it may be skewed by expectations; we booked our meal same day via the resort concierge. His description definitely did not match up to what we experienced so there's some disappointed/unmet expectations that contribute.

We ate here for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it!!!:thumbsup2

We ate early (5pm) and were one of the frst to be seated. Our server Chris was fantastic!! He was extremely polite and knowledgeable and was one of the best servers we have ever had!!! We even stopped on the way out and let the manager know how great he was!!!:cool1:
Me and my DH both had the prime rib and it was outstanding! I ordered mine med-rare and it was perfect...and my DH ordered his med and his was perfect as well. One of the best prime rib we have had. The potatoes we had with it were very yummy as well. Our son also loved his meal(he is 4) One thing I loved, was that we didn't have to order the whole kid's meal. An app, entree and dessert is too much for my son even though he is a big eater!!! We were able to just order the nuggets with fries which was plenty for him!!!
It was a very enjoyable meal and are dining there again when we return in September!!!:goodvibes

we usually stay at riverside, not this year, we alway eat at boatwrights when that is our home resort. we like it. very sad that they discontinued breakfast. also the food court there is possibly the best one on property.

We had a very nice meal there for dinner last month. We were pleasantly surprised and quite pleased. We'd have no qualms about going back next time we stay at POR. Service was excellent, food was good, staff was great, the manager was going around talking with guests, and the menu has options you won't find quite the same way anywhere else in WDW. For instance, I had beef medallions with honey mustard sweet potatoes with a corn and crawfish remoulade. Haven't seen anything like that anywhere else!

I also love the interior. The larger, higher level room has the fireplace, but we were up front near the giant boat frame.

You are right the interior is amazing, we will go over to just eat at the food court and sit back by the water wheel, we do several CS breakfast per trip. As for Boatwrights I do miss the breakfast, but the dinner menue seems so limited, ate dinner there once and it was ok.

We thought Boatwrights was great. My steak was perfectly cooked (and I'm picky about how steak is cooked, many places just can't do medium-well correctly)

I wouldn't go all the way to POR just to go to Boatwrights, though. There are plenty of other TS places just as good that are bound to be more convienient. But, next time we are staying at POR, we will definitely eat 1-2 meals there!

Oh how I miss the breakfasts there, they were so good at such a great price when paying OOP. With that said, we have an ADR there for September since we are staying at POR. I am kind of excited about it because we have never eaten there for dinner, just for breakfast when they used to have it. The ambiance inside is so nice and the service has always been good to us.

I've stayed at POR 3 times now and Boatwrights was ALWAYS on the list. It's a really nice restaurant. the food is great , the atmosphere is wonderful. Like the pp, I too miss their breakfast....I thought they did an awesome job and I was sad to see that go.

The atmosphere is going to be awesome for your boys...they're going to LOVE sitting under a big boat hull. They'll probably get a kick out of walking around and seeing the big water mill. POR is a beautiful resort. It's always been one of my favorites! :lovestruc

I vote to give it a try....I think you'll enjoy yourself there. After dinner, you can take a stoll down "the river" or take a boat to DTD.

Love Boatwrights! Worth a try for sure!

Me too!!! Riverside is my favorite moderate resort!! I have stayed there many times. Their breakfast was awesome!! Between the Sweet Potato pancakes, and the banana-stuffed french toast w/ strawberries on top, it was always a hard decision to make on which to chose. We would eat there for breakfast several times throughout our trip. But, we never got to eat dinner there.

We went in 2007 for the last meal of our trip. Thank God it was the last meal of our trip -- it was less than mediocre in our opinion. The service was terrible (we waited over 45 minutes past our ADR and the host was extremely rude); you couldn't hear yourself think, let alone talk, with all the people walking by to go to the food court or to hear the Piano guy and the food was "blah"--I sent mine back twice and the portions were extremely small which didn't make a big deal because we didn't like the food, but it certainly wasn't enough to fill a person.
