Boatwright's-Reservation Impossible

Tried unsuccessfully all day long to make reservations at Boatwright's at POR for March 2016. Tried online and wouldn't work. Called Disney Dining, and they said since we had a party of 10, we had to call a different number for large groups. Tried many times calling that number all through the day and it kept rolling over to Disney Dining, who could not make the reservation. One cast member gave me another number, saying it was the podium in the restaurant, and told me to call at 5pm their time. So i did, and it rolled over to Disney Dining. i got a nice lady trying her best to help me. After a very long time, she was able to put me through to someone at the restaurant. That person took my name and number, the date and time we wanted, and said she would give the note to her manager, and he would call me back within a week.

Really? That's how Boatwright's handles reservation requests for parties over 9? Does not seem like a very efficient system.

Did anyone suggest making two reservations for your party?

Pumbaa's idea would probably be the easiest at this point. Call the dining line and book 2 tables for 5, putting the second table in the name of another adult in your group. When you get to the restaurant, ask to be seated together. You may have a short wait while they arrange the tables for you.

i can't remember (my brain is a little foggy right now). We did do that for another restaurant, because as i could make a reso for 10 online, the only available time was very late. i guess if we have to we can do that. But i really want our whole family to be able to sit together.

Thank you for the suggestions. i posted at the same time you did, Minnie Mum. i was able to make two reservations in my name for the same time for Coral Reef today. The CM said you can't do that online, but they can if you call. So i guess i will call Boatwright's tomorrow morning and ask for two reservations for 5 each (or one for 6 and one for 4). Then if the manager does call me i can ask them to put the two little reservations into one big one. They really should make it easier to make reservations for 10 or more, though.

What day are you looking for? I'm seeing early dinner times available for a party of 10 at Boatwright's online for multiple days in March. If you have your room reservation and are trying to book past 180 days in advance, I'm wondering if the ADRS just haven't been loaded into the system yet.

I think you're talking about The BOATHOUSE... So far as I know reservations for Boatwright's are only available through Disney.

Yep, I'm pretty sure Boatwright's is Disney owned/operated.

What day are you looking for? I'm seeing early dinner times available for a party of 10 at Boatwright's online for multiple days in March. If you have your room reservation and are trying to book past 180 days in advance, I'm wondering if the ADRS just haven't been loaded into the system yet.

Yes, it will show you available times, but it's a trick. Once you click to reserve that time, it reloads back to the original display. i did call this morning and made two reservations, one under my sister's name for six and one under my name for four. We'll see if the Manager calls.

I see. I read about people having that problem with room reservations, but hadn't known there was a problem with ADRs showing false availability also. One suggestion assuming there is availability and some glitch in the system: You can try searching on the wdw tools site and selecting your desired time there. You still make the ADR through Disney normally, but I've had that work for me in the past when struggling with Disney's site kicking me out of being able to book after showing availability.

Glad you were able to get something worked out and good luck with the manager. I could be wrong but I thought large parties were not guaranteed to sit together anyway even if reserved as one party, so your chances of sitting together may be almost as good when requesting at check-in with separate reservations.

i missed a call from the manager yesterday, darn it. She said they could probably accommodate me but it was too early for me to make a reservation and would call me back on Sunday. i called back and got her voice mail and reiterated that we are staying at a Disney resort so could make resos now. Anyhow, when i finally do speak with her, i'll tell her what we have in place and see if she can link it in their system. Or if she can make me a reservation for 10, i can cancel the other two. In any case, looks like it's going to work out. Glad i started super early getting all our plans set.
