We will be staying at POFQ in Sept and Boatwright's will be an easy and quick meal without any transfers. Is there anyone out there who has had a good experience here or should I just stay away?

We've dined at this restaurant several times (although not since the tragic introduction of the DDP) and never had a bad experience. We tend to be fairly particular about quality of food and service, and were always pleased with both at this restaurant.

it's OK..thats all I can say about it. There are far better resort restaurants then this one. I quite like Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge resort. We had an awful meal at POR a couple of years ago and haven't been back to it. But everybody has a different experience and maybe last time we were just unlucky, the times before were not something to write home about tho...!!:)

Our in-laws were just there last month and had nothing but good things to say about Boatwright's.

Ate there twice during a 5 day stay in 2010. Great service, food, both times. Not too many reviews of it, possibly because it is a long way to go to if you are not staying there?
Southern food, seafood, nice atmosphere. Go for a carriage ride after dinner or take the boat to DTD.

We've eaten at Boatwrights several times and have never had a bad meal.
It's certainly easy if you are staying at POR.

:cool1:popcorn::

We've been for breakfast (a shame they stopped the breakfasts) and dinner and they were both great! We didn't go this trip but woudn't hesitate to go on our next trip down...

We have dined at Boatwright's on 3 occasions. Their filet with cheesy potatoe casserole rocked but I think they discontinued the filet.

I had their jambalaya one time and I wish I had not. It was very bland. It had some heat but no flavor at all.

It can get quite noisy at Boatwright's as it is located adjacent to the counter service in POR and it is a heavy traffic area. Boatwright's is convienient if you are at POR but we wouldn't go out of our way to go there.

We went there in October 2010, and I thought the food and service were very good. We were staying at POR and were on the dining plan. I wouldn't go if I wasn't staying at that resort or if I had to pay OOP. We enjoyed the meal. :thumbsup2

DH and I ate there on a trip in 09. (a little while ago) We really enjoyed it. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but if you are staying at POFQ or POR, then I would definetely go again.
I loved the collard greens. I never thought that I would say I would go back somewhere simply for collard greens!??? but I would there. I'm not even that big on greens. Never really eat them at all.

My family always enjoyed it. I think the thing is that it is a good place to eat - but years ago (before DDP) it was one of the best hidden gems in the World! Once the dining plan came, they cut out the table salad, took away some of our favorite apps and menu items. But alas, this can be sad of most of the TS places now. We loved Chef Mickey's too, but that seems to have gone down hill. It once had the best prime rib. It seems its more about how many to feed rather than the quality. Disney tried so hard to shed that theme park food stereotype and then when they did, they shot themselves in the foot.

I would have no problem eating there. The food is always good and the service has never disappoined. It's just some of us "remember the good old days.":goodvibes

We had dinner here on our last night 11/24/09. It started to rain & we decided to stay on the resort instead of fighting with the weather. We called & the only ressie we could get was for 8:30pm. The restaurant was full & the service was fantastic, not rushed at all.

All of us ordered the Prime Rib, if my memory is correct, it came with a baked potato. It was cooked perfectly & delicious. For dessert, we had southern pecan pie. We enjoyed it very much & would eat here again. Our family likes new dining experiences & would try someplace that would be new to us first but if this was the only place with a ressie, we would gladly accept. :thumbsup2

On a side note:
During conversation with our waiter, we found out that he was the son of a Disney Executive & it was interesting to hear about his experience as a Disney kid. He was so impressed with his father's history of moving up within the company that he had decided to go to school to study hospitality & restaurant management. Boatright's was the second restaurant that he'd worked at on property. He had been at one of the signature dining restaurants before that & he planned on working through out college in WDW restaurants to gain a variety of experiences.

I ate here while staying at POR and thought it was good. It's not the kind of place you'd go way out of your way for, but the food and service were good, and if you're staying at POFQ it's a nice sit-down alternative. I had read mediocre reviews and was skeptical, but I think it does what it's supposed to do pretty well.
