My DH and I just returned from our first trip to the World. Since we were newbies we didn't make any PS's before we went....guess what, you need to do that. I know you all already know that. Anyway, since we couldn't get a PS for any earlier than 9:10pm at O'Hana's or Le Cellier we decided that we would just eat at our restaurant at POR , Boatwrights, and rough it before going to DTD. Wow, the food was outstanding, I was truly shocked since no one really comments on the dinners just the breakfast. I had crab stuffed salmon and my DH had blackened cajun seafood pasta. Both of our dinners were wonderful and the portions were so large that we couldn't even finish them. We had the crab cakes for an appetizers and they were great too! So, if you find yourself without a PS to the "Great" restaurants, you might just want to slum it at Boatwrights. (No lines, good service and great food!! And you don't have to take a bus or a monorail to get there if you are staying on site and you get a scenic, romantic walk to dinner.)

Isn't it nice to find a real secret once in a while? Boatwrights has wonderful french onion soup, too. We love eating there, even when we aren't staying there at PO (which we have only done once in 15 trips). They have great Eggs Benedict as well for breakfast.

We were wet, weary, exhausted and starving when we wandered into Boatwrights on the first night of our trip last October. We weren't sure what we were going to get...but WOW! My husband and I split the pot roast and had more than enough for both of us! It was INCREDIBLE!

Really great service, quiet, cool scenery...can't recommend it enough. It's the only reason I would venture back to POR RS...worth the trip for the food!

It is good. We stay at PO each time we stay at WDW and we love eating at Boatwrights, both for breakfast & dinner.

Good to know mkbroas. We are planning on trying this out during our stay at POR next month. What time/day did you eat here and would you say that for the most part you would NOT need a PS for this restaurant at dinner??

Thanks!!! That's great to know. DH and I were trying to decide if we should try it or not. We went there for breakfast and it was quite good but never tried dinner.

Thanks!!

We make it a point to eat at Boatwrights every trip. Love it there.

halfway there
We made a 7:30 PS for Boatwright's on Sunday 8/31. They weren't really that busy so we probably didn't need it, but I would make one just in case something changes.

Thanks mkbroas! Did you make that PS that day? I'm thinking of going our first night after check-in which will be a Thurs but I'm not sure what time we'll be arriving. Perhaps I'll just see if they can fit us in when we get there and if not make a PS for another night.

I think Boatwright's is a hidden gem. We usually stay at POFQ and eat there at least once a trip. Even if we are not staying at that resort, we go there, too!

I think they have great prime rib and I love the rolls that they give you at the beginning of the meal. They are always warm and fresh. It is never that crowded and the service is great. I like the mozzarella cheese bites, I wish they gave you a larger portion (can you tell I really like the place?)

We were considering Boatwrights for Thanksgiving Dinner but I understand they(Disney) is refurbishing the hotel and parts of the resort is unaccessable.Did you see any of the renovations while you were there and is it anywhere near Boatwrights?

I have very fond memories of Boatwrights, probably because our first on-site stay was at POR (Dixie Landings as it was then!). I remember going to Boatwrights for dinner after a busy day at the parks and DD (who was about 4 at the time) was wide awake when we ordered dinner. By the time it arrived, however, she had crashed and burned. The wonderful server just took one look and took her meal away and never charged us for it!

It was also the first place I ever had Mickey Pancakes - oh how the little things stay in the memory!

I am so glad to see these reviews as I have several ressie's to eat here during my stay. Yum Yum.
