Boathouse kid friendly?

I find myself with one extra dining credit for my trip and considering changing my Raglan Road to Boathouse. It's myself and my 8yo son. We have done other signature dining at WDW and have a few more planned for the next trip. For those who have been, how does Boathouse compare to other signatures on property as far as kid friendliness?

As examples, we've done Cali Grill, Le Cellier, Yachstman before, is Boathouse comparable? I'm okay with the menu, I've already checked that out, I'm asking more from a general atmosphere. This would be a Tuesday evening around 6pm, if that makes a difference.

I thnk Boathouse is fine. But if you haven't been to raglan Road he would probsbly love the singing and dancing.

It is a super laid back atmosphere. Every time I have been there has been live music and a ton of people outside on the dock bar and inside at the main bar so the atmosphere is very lively and not at all staid or stuffy.

Yes! They even serve the kids meals in cute little paper boat boxes that look like the cars.

Very kid friendly...
I have a picture of my 9YO with his uncle sitting at the main bar eating and Uncle had a beer while son had a more kid friendly drink.
Bartender even took the picture... mind you my son was holding the beer and uncle had the kids drink..

That said, no way would I switch from Raglan Road since it is my favorite restaurant in all of Disney.

Yes the Boathouse is 2 TS credits. And the steak entrees do not come with sides, and the sides are extra and not included in the 2 TS cost. Some other entrees do have sides, but not the steaks

Definitely kid friendly. We saw a number of kids there this past weekend.

It was our favorite meal of the trip (beat our old favorite, California Grill, surprisingly!).
