So...last time we were at WDW (1999) we stayed at the WL (LOVED it!!). On the night of MVMCP we took a small boat, that was just for WL, to the MK. This year we are having dinner at the WL before the party and would like to take the boat over again. But now I'm reading that WL folks have to wait for the large ferry that comes from the TTC. Is this true? Are we going to be waiting forever for a boat, and then have to go to FW before heading out to MK?

I can't believe that I am actually whining about this. With all the hardships in the world, THIS is my greatest concern!:worried:

I doubt the WL transportation will have changed since we were there in October so I'll share my October experience with you.

There are three sizes (five if you count pontoon and mouse boats) that I saw on Bay Lake when we were at the WL. The largest is the riverboat that goes only from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom. A smaller but good size boat goes from the WL to MK and does share a route with FW. Sometimes it will go MK, FW, WL then MK other times it goes MK, WL, FW, MK- I think they had two boats doing opposite circles. Peak times of year, they might switch and have a dedicated WL to MK boat. I don't know. There is also one size smaller that is used for transportation- it has a striped awning over the seats- and that goes to the Contemporary from FW and WL. Same type of thing- either to FW, WL to CR or WL, FW, to CR.

For fun, you could take the smaller boat to the Contemporary and then ride the Monorail.

Long winded but I hope that helps.

Bottom line, it is not the TTC boat.

Have a great time!!

The time you are eating and going to the Magic Kingdom, they should be still running the direct boat between the two. But if I'm not mistaken, you will not be able to catch the boat back to the WL after the MVMCP. You will most likely have to catch the monorail to the T&TC, and then take the bus back to the Wilderness Lodge, which really is not that bad. At least it's warmer than the boat in the late evening!
Have a great time!

According to Tyler (Chip and Dale), who answered a similar question on the Transportation board, theboat between MK and WL will run up to 45 minutes after MK closes.

Thank you so much for your replies!! It was exactly the info I needed :sunny:

Last Dec while stay at WL we got ready to go over to MVMCP and the line was from the pool area all the way to the end of the dock...The normal Resort boats where running but making little head way as the guest kept coming...after a short period of time one of the big ferry's from TTC pulled-up and everyone was loaded at once....We were on our way...we didn't go to Ft Wilderness just straight to MK. Disney saw a problem and took care of it.
