Boat from Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary

It is my understanding that there is/was a boat that went directly from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary. Does anyone know if that boat is running at this time?

It was by-request when we stayed at WL several years ago, and that route hasn't been reinstated since the reopening unless it was recently.

We asked a WL skipper about its possible return when at WDW in November. His tone and facial expression suggested to me that "out of service indefinitely" meant not likely to return.

Too bad, because that was a great route to go to CR from WL for a meal, shopping or catching the monorail to the TTC.

Yeah this was a really convenient boat route. I'm guessing the fact that it didn't get reinstated when Hoop reopened means it's probably not coming back any time soon.

Yeah, miss being able to take the boat to Contemporary, dine at Cali Grill then walk over to MK. Agree, if it hasn't returned to service with Hoop.....don't think it will return at all.

We were told in March by a Captain there that all of these route suspensions around WL, Contemp and the Fort were due to a lack of Captains post covid, and that the routes would all come back once they had staffed up (trained new boat captains). But, it's now July...so while I'm still clinging to this I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen.

I was really hoping this route would return once Hoop de Doo returned. Sounds like it isn’t happening.

It was such a great option to have staying at CR, WL, and FW. It opens up so many more dining options and activities. We stayed at Copper Creek last year and went to FW a few times to do some of the activities with our kids. The bus was pretty quick but was hoping the boat would be running when we stay at Bay Lake this year. It looks like we will have to walk to MK buses and hop the bus to FW?

You can take the boat from MK to Fort Wilderness. The boats that aren't running are the ones between the resorts.
There is a bus (yellow) that runs regularly between Fort Wilderness Settlement area and Wilderness Lodge. Roughly every 20 minutes or so.

Was told last week by a captain that the Contemporary GM is refusing to allow use of the dock at this point thus no boats.

Had to take boat to MK then monorail to Contemporary for Chef Mickey breakfast

Was suggested that we email the GM of the Contemporary and WDW and to bring boats back

Yes, these boats are running again. They start at 3:00PM every day.

I will say that while it is running, one evening I was at Contemporary waiting by myself for 45 minutes for the boat to come and it never came. I went to the lobby and asked about it. They were supposed to be in service until 10:30, this was about 9:45. I ended up taking an uber back because I was tired. I'm wondering if service is less frequent in the evening hours? (this was January this year). The other time I used it was fine.

We had trouble getting a boat from Fort Wilderness to the Contemporary. The first boat was full, and then the second boat was "full." We had to insist on getting on the second boat because we had reservations. Turns out there was more than enough room, once people moved over.
