Boat from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney?

I know that it's possible to get from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney via boat, but does anyone know how long of a ride it is? From the maps I have, it looks like a bit of a journey - although I'm sure they're obviously not to scale. Does anyone have an estimate? We're getting in to Disney in the late afternoon, so the plan is to have dinner at the resort then head over to Downtown Disney for some shopping before hitting the theme parks the next day, and I just want to make sure we'll have enough time for that. Thank you!

I was there a few years ago and DW and I took it all the time from POFQ. I do not remember it being super long .... 10 minutes maybe. And from POR to POFQ was not more than 5 ... I wish I could remember better for you.

The boat ride is between 20-25 minutes from POR. The boat stops at POFQ along the way. At POR, they let about 25 people on the boat, and leave about 15 seats open for POFQ guests. Two weeks ago, there was quite a long line for the boat at POR around 3:40. I had to wait for the third boat. It was worth the wait though :) The boats are much more relaxing than the busses.

The boats run every 20 minutes until 4:00, and then they run every 10 minutes.

Great way to get there, ride is about 25 minutes, smooth and relaxing, the operator usually fills you in on local stuff, you can see the NEW Treehouse Villas too. It'll drop you off right next to the RFC and you can then walk all around, shop etc.....The boat stops only at POFQ and POR each way....which by the way... is a nice walk on a lited path from POR to POFQ. Not sure which you are staying at but be sure to catch the piano player at POR if you can, some good laughs, especially near end of show...more adult like....
we LOVE LOVE LOVE por, have a great visit! :wizard:

Wow, I underestimated the time by about half ... proof of what a nice relaxing ride it is. :)

It's good to hear that the boat ride is so nice. We'll be staying at POR for our first time in August, and we're looking forward to taking the boat ride over to DTD. We also plan on visiting DTD our first night, for supper and a bit of shopping.

Don't forget to check out the Rainforest Cafe; their aquarium is awesome. My mom and I happened to wander in there over lunchtime and the guy was in scuba gear cleaning the tank.

Also, I hear the new T-Rex place is actually also as nice, but the food is a bit more reasonable. And there is another new restaurant, called Paradiso 37 that is supposed to be excellent. Also, don't forget Earl of Sandwich and Ghiradelli's for dessert - or for dinner; sometimes that is my dinner. I take the water taxi downtown every night from POR when I am there.
