There is a new service for access to the parks from the hotels. There are pedicycles that are like rickshaws connected to a bike. The guy was right behind Margaritaville for delivery to RPR. I later saw another coming from either HRH or PBH. The guy was drenched with sweat so I'll guess PBH. They work for tips and the girl I was with was so impressed that she added $20 to my $5. We had a long talk with the cyclist and would highly recommend this form of transportation to anyone.

I don't think I could do that. I would feel so bad having some one working so hard in that heat to transport me. I'll stick to walking or the water taxi.

You shouldnt feel bad! This is how they get income!! These guys usually work on tips alone, so if you dont ride they dont get paid anything!

We used this service many times on our trip a couple weeks ago. After a long day of walking the last thing my kids wanted to do was walk to the resort or wait for the boat, and they got such a kick out of the bike ride. I think they liked it as much as the rides in the parks.

That sounds neat. How many people do they hold? What do they look like? Thanks :teeth:

We did this in March! It was fun, but we only did it once on our first day. There were 4 of us, but the driver said for my husband and me to hold the children in our laps. These kids are big kids, and I felt so guilty. The driver insisted that it wasn't too much weight though, and "this is how I make my money". I still felt guilty.

Some of the pedicabs drivers were verging on rude, we later experienced. When we declined the ride, there were a couple of times when they were downright pushy. They also came very near mowing down pedestrians on occasions. They had to build up steam to make it up the slight incline going towards Margaritaville. Flying around that blind corner under the bridge in particular, was very dangerous. When you heard that bell, you were best just clearing off the path!

We just got back from RPR lastnight. We used a pedicab once during our stay. The girl pedaling told us it was her first day, explained to us how hard of a job it was (I can certainly understand) and then proceeded to tell us (twice) that she only works for tips. We already knew this as there's a rather large decal on the pedicab that states this. My & my BF just kinda looked at eachother trying to think of something to say back to her...it was kind of awkward. We tipped her $6 and didn't take another pedicab. I guess I can understand the need to remind people that they need to tip, it was just uncomfortable. :confused3
