Hi Everyone
We are looking to book boardwalk pool or garden view for April 2024. Do you think the refurbishments will be done by then

Thanks

Honestly? No. It always takes longer than they think.

But that doesn't mean there won't be refurbished rooms online and ready to stay in. Does it matter to you if they are still doing construction on another floor or at another spot at the resort?

Just got back - there is lots of construction now on common areas - did not disturb me. I would avoid room 2100/ 3100 as there was a massive leak into the hall.

We are doing a 2 night no parks resort stay. We were thinking the boardwalk would have some entertainment for our 12-year-old

Hi. I just booked a studio at the boardwalk. Our friends are also going to be with us but they don’t want to spend the rate for boardwalk. Is there any reasonable hotels in that area. They want to be able to come and hang out with us.
Thanks

Swan and Dolphin is a bunch less for cash and still connected by the boats

With the amount of water issues they have had, I think no. We stayed there in July and the smell of mildew was almost too much. If we had been there more than 2 nights, we would have asked to be moved to another section of the hotel or another DVC resort. It stank.

Yes, Swan/Dolphin. Also, have them check for "deals" at these - they are on the Skyliner and (with one connection) they could be dropped nearby at your side of the Epcot entrance. If the Skyliner is down (it happens in lightening storms?) they would want to take a bus to Hollywood Studios - then walk or boat over to you - or could Uber. None of that is "fast" if you are rope dropping Epcot and waiting on them, but especially doable if they do not have kids. Being on the Skyliner is cool - great views and fun to ride.

Thank you. Do you think it’ll be cheaper for them to rent points from someone on the boards for boardwalk

I would have them check with the rental brokers - would be very sad to rent from a scammer. But that's just my paranoia. Price depends on when they are traveling, and if one of the DVC resellers (oops, I meant DVC owners) happened to snag a lower priced Standard View at that time.

The advantage of renting from Disney hotels, they might be able to rebook if the rates drop - or even cancel if something comes up - every DVC rental I've seen is non-refundable for ANY reason whatsoever.

Oh no I hope it gets fixed by April

That’s was my suggestion. They‘ll likely find $18pp here on rent/trade board, which is pretty safe if you go with an owner who has been an active part of this community. And since you’re only looking for a few days, BW is possible. If they wanted 4 days or more then BW would be very unlikely for 7 month window.

That method should come in between $300-$400/nt depending on price per point and room category.

Best scenario is something like 2 nights in 15pt/nt standard view at $18pp for $270/nt, $540 total. But it’s tricky to align. Most likely is Garden/Pool View ~$350/nt.

While some of these private renters here may offer a reschedule, be aware it’s still limited to availability and point expirations. So moving dates probably means accepting an SSR, AKV or OKW stay to use those points.

Also keep in mind these prices include all taxes, resort fees, parking, extra heads fees, etc. That $18pp is complete; no extra costs like cash, Swolphin, or Priceline, etc.

Oh no! We booked one night in December and then are visiting family for a few nights and coming to SSR for 6 nights. Should i book somewhere else other than Boardwalk?

Nah. I was there for 10 days earlier this month in a standard view 1BR near the walkway to the buses. I smelled absolutory nothing mildewy. There was construction and painting in the common areas. I did smell some paint but that's it.

Since you're doing a resort only stay, what do you mean with "hang out with you"?

Access to the pool is restricted to guests only, even if it's not enforced like at BCV.
If there are three of you in your room, then you can add 2 people to your reservation so they are considered guests and they can use the resort amenities. But if they have a child you'd go over the room occupancy limits for a studio.

Of course, no permission is needed to just visit the Boardwal area.

Although be aware we've heard of significant "glitches" if a guest is registered at two Disney hotels on the same night. And a common way to check who is registered to at a resort, is typically linked by the MDE app.

When did they saw renovations would be completed. I know it usually last longer but need an estimate date for completion. Thanks

They haven’t specified a date, but most believe it will be sometime in March or April based on availability for booking by BWV owners months ago. The BW wing is nearing completion now (the section nearest the elevators is being occupied already) and the Standard view villas were blocked from January through some date in March. So hopefully that’s the projected completion date for the entire resort.

Thanks. Going in July. Either Boardwalk or Beach Club. Getting ready to finalze our plans.

Keep in mind the Boardwalk is being refurb right now and pictures of the new rooms are very nice!
