Hi!
We are thinking of switching hotels from AKL to the Boardwalk. What do you think? We stayed at the AKL already, have their mugs etc...
Do they have a food court?
Is this a good decision or should we just keep were we are going? It would cost $90.00 more total for a four night stay.
Tell me if I shoud switch and why or why not.

Thank You!

The Boardwalk does not have a food court. There are a number of restaurants on the Boardwalk. ESPN, Spoodle's, Flying Fish and Big River Grill.

The area is wonderful, the Boardwalk is hopping at night. You can walk to MGM and Epcot. There is adult nightlife. You can walk to Fantasia Gardens. The pool is wonderful. I love the slide.

There is no food court, but the whole area is full of life and action at night--you can get pizza by the slice at Spoodles (I think), my DD#1 likes to get italian ice, and they have other carnival type refreshments. You can also hop over to Epcot in 5 minutes, literally, and get some snacks at world showcase if you have to have a beaver tail!
When we are at BWV we walk to both Epcot and MGM. The pool is nice (I like BC/YC better but can't use them anymore with DVC points). While I have never stayed at AKL, I would say that at the BW you will be much closer to the action, in the parks and at the resort. Just no animals peeking in the windows!:D

Hi Sunflower93,

We have stayed at both the BWI and the AKL and if I had to choose between the two it would be the AKL. The BWI does not have a food court. We found the location of the BWI to be outstanding but we just did not like the "feel". We also did not like having to go out onto the Boardwalk to dine. If the choice is between a water view or better room at the AKL and any room at the BWI I would go with the AKL.

This is what is so great about Disney offering so many different types of resorts.... unlike Tiffany we loved the BW and its dining choices. We ate at ESPN, BWBakery, Spoodles take-out and Leaping Horse (poolside). We never got to Big River Grille, Spoodles (sit down) or FFcafe, next time!. We ate three times in Epcot resturants (GG, Marrakesh and SAI) and at Cape May. We loved the "feel" of BWI. We have not been to AKL.:)

Personal view is that BW is the best resort on site -- best location (walk to Epcot or MGM), excellent rooms (larger than AKL rooms), good pool with a large slide and entertainment at night. However, $90 is $90 so I am not sure whether you would prefer to save the bucks as AKL is very nice too.

I echo Tiffany's response, we stayed at both BWI and AKL and I liked AKL much better. The only pluses BWI has is the location, great to walk to EPCOT/MGM and the number of restaurants with YC/BC and S&D as well as Boardwalk all together.

Saying that, I agree that the feel of a resort is lost with the layout and shared restaurants. WE got a great deal with a upgrade offer, but probably would not stay at BWI again unless another $99 deal comes along.

The AKL is another story, great resort, the friendliest staff I ever met in 10 trips to WDW. We cannot wait to get back to the AKL in July.

Save the money and stay at the nicer hotel, in my opinion :)
