Boardwalk vs. Saratoga Springs

My DBF is a DVC owner and i have been with him two times to WDW. While he "owns" at Boardwalk, we have booked late both times and have had to stay at Saratoga Springs, as he considers it his second favorite. SSR is the only place I have ever stayed on property.

There is a lot I like about it. I like the quiet, the rooms are great, it's beautiful and spacious and peaceful. The main thing I don't like is that if DBF sleeps in, there has not been much for me to do. (For lovers of SSR, that is not to mean I don't like the place, I do LOVE it.)

I am lucky that my next two stays (weekends in December and march) will be at BWV. Firs one with DBF and son, second on my own.

I am just wondering what are some differences I may not expect?

At BWV, you can walk to the Studios or Epcot and let your sleeping BF back at the room. I'd be off early in the morning and just tell him to call me on the cell when his butt is out of bed and then I'd tell him where to meet me in the parks!

The boardwalk itself is fairly quiet in the morning but you might like joining the throngs of people who visit the bakery for their breakfast every day.

Many differences are obvious, some are subtle and subject to user variation. The parking difference is obvious but you get free valet (tip expected) at BWV, SSR doesn't have valet parking. You may do more walking at BWV due to the longer hallways and relative location in relationship to MGM (it'll always be) and EPCOT. They have to boat transportation to both but NO busses to either. The rooms are about the same size but set up a little differently. BWV has dedicated studio and 1 BR units that are not lockoff's. There are more food options at BWV including danish in the lounge as well as the Bakery. BWV has a community hall and the private and feature pool are next to each other separated by a wing of the building. Grilling is not especially workable at BWV since they only have one LARGE grill. Welcome home Wed are at Atlantic Dance hall, a nice time for newbies. Of course there are the booking categories including BW view. BC/YC are right across the lake so a trip to Beaches and Cream for Ice Cream is always on our list. The list could go on and on and you may not care about any of them.

To me, SSR is peace and serenity. BWV is in the middle of the action. While our room was perfectly quiet, overall, it's just "busier." So, when we're not going to the parks as much, and we want other things to do, I LOVE staying at the Boardwalk. If I had to explain the difference in feel...It would almost be like making SSR more hotel-like (rooms off of a main lobby), plopping it in the middle of DTD, and having a park within walking distance.

Based on what you've said, I think you'll have a great time at BWV!
