I am looking for some good and even bad advice from anyone who has stayed here. We booked rooms for next June, have heard some unpleasant stories about the elevators being far from some rooms and the entrance way out to epcot being on a different floor than the room elevator??? Any advice on ways around this or any other things I should watch out for or plan ahead for our trip would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are only 1 set of elevators, right off the lobby. See the map below, the elevators are by H. If your room is in one of the far wings, that's how far your walk would be. As long as you don't have problems walking, it's not a big deal. It's probably no longer than walking Main Street.

The lobby is actually on the second floor. The exit to the Boardwalk to walk or boat to Epcot would be on the first floor. Same elevators. The elevator on the first floor comes out between the main pool & health club J on map.

....unpleasant stories....
These stories you might hear may be way overstated, sometimes a few of us get caught up in my home resort is better than your home resort and put too much effort into finding fault with other resorts. The elevators can take you to the Epcot/pool/ground level if you's like. You can also use the BWI elevators, which can be a little tricky, but not bad. BWV is a beautiful resort, with wonderful access, you'll have a great time. In fact, I think it's probably the second best DVC resort in WDW. Enjoy. ;)

We stayed at BWV this summer, and I now don't think the horror stories about the distances are exaggerated very much. The walk from the desk to the elevators is longer than in most hotels, and the configuration of the villas is such that long walks are possible. Our walk was about half the length of the longest walk, and it was noticeably long but not onerous. Walking to the far reaches with your "carry ons" could be a noticeable discomfort. That said, BWV is a very nice place.

We rarely use the elevator at BWV, as we prefer to use the stairs. Of course, we don't have stroller, wheelchair, or children to worry about. The only tricky part of this is it can be confusing where the stairs will come out.

I've never stayed at BWV, but going to and I want to try out the Bellevue room. Do I take the Elevators to the second floor? And how far is the Bellevue room?

The Bellevue Room is actually on the Boardwalk Inn side. If you enter from the doors next to Flying Fish, the steps or elevator will take you right up to the Bellevue Room. If you use the steps up to the main lobby entrance, you would turn left, it's just a few steps from the lobby. Coming in from the valet side, you would turn right.

Have you ever stayed in YC, BC, etc? The length of the walk are very very similiar in these resorts as BWV. The walk is very similiar in many hotel resorts whether they are in WDW or not. Large deluxe Hotel resorts do have long hallways since all the rooms are located in one building and not seperate buildings, therefore the buildings tend to be either very long or are very tall with many floors. WDW goes for the long buildings rather than a hotel with many floors.

I agree with Deep...... The walk was similar to that of BC/YC and wanted to add that some Villias at OKW have a long walk to the HH.... kinda of too short for the bus, yet a short hike.

With that said..... like Doctor P stated, once you drop off your bags, it is a nice walk..... great carpet too! LOL

Have fun, dont worry!

I never felt the walk was excessive. My only objection is when the youngsters get way ahead of the parents and then play in/on/around the elevators while waiting for the "old folks" to arrive.

Also, a personal preference is that I rarely ever take the elevator all the way down to boardwalk level. I go to the lobby and out the back door to the veranda, then walk down the steps. I love the view while standing there, it reminds me of why we chose BWV.

Look at it this way: The Boardwalk Villas are attached to the lobby, so the initial walk is shorter. At BCV and WLV (which we also love), you check-in and then walk down a corridor, then outside, then into the building. I think the walking distances even-out.
