We got one of the corner standard views last Oct. it was wonderful! Just luck I guess. I think we had one on 2nd or 3rd floor. Can't remember now.

Thanks for this thread! We were missing 1 night in the middle of our Sept stay and had waitlisted and it came through this morning (Happy dance!) so I am officially in a position to make a room request! I echoed the upper floor and far away from elevators. My husband is a light sleeper so I'm really hoping we can find a quieter location. It doesn't really seem like any room in the standard view category is "near transportation" as I like to save my steps for the park, so quiet wins this race!

We ALWAYS book BW view but one year I called MS in the afternoon for the first week of Dec. at 11 months out and BW view 1 bedrooms were already partially booked. I waitlisted and it never came through. Strangely, standard view was available so I booked that for the first few nights and we ended up in one of the corner rooms. So I can say we have a 100% track record for getting the corner room when we book standard view! What was most impressive to me in that room was the balcony, which wraps all the way around. I was surprised at how much of Illuminations we could see.
Personally I would not request "far from elevator." I remember reading threads where people who requested that ended up close to elevator. It made me wonder whether the room assigner may have seen the word "elevator" and not paid attention to "far from." I would ask for "across from bus stop," if that is allowed.
I hope that someone posts updated photos soon of one of the corner rooms. The only photos I have seen are like the ones above and they are pretty old.

You are so right. I'm at bwv standard in September. Earlyier I had called and requested far from elevator. I logged on two days ago to do online checkin. Went to requests and guess what was checked? "Near elevator". I got out and Sent message to ms asking them to unclick that box. Next time I will say across from bus stop!
