We recently returned from our first visit to the Boardwalk Villas. We own at the Beach Club and Old Key West. Our confirmation slip stated pool/garden view. Since we used points for a perferred view, we were surprised that our view consisted of the end of a stream, a parking area , and the service vehicle entrance. We wondered if this was a perferred view or a standard view room. We wondered where the standard view rooms are located. Just wondering...we were happy not to "view" the 30 inches of snow that our area had while we were away!

We were in a preferred room in December as well and overlooked the construction tent. Although we could see the Swan and Dolphin, the first thing we saw was the big white tent.

We have a standard view in April, so it will be interesting to see where we end up! We don't spend much time in the room, but I thought a preferred view would at least have the pool or a view of MGM.

Hopefully you will get some responses.

had a preferred view last year and we overlooked waterway towards mgm and quiet pool

previous year we had std view on first floor by main pool.

so, save your $$$ and keep std view

How strange...in December, we were in a standard view that overlooked the big white tent with the Swan, Dolphin and the pretty bridge in the background. I think it was room 2031.

Only 20% of the villas at BWV are standard view. They all face the front drive. So if you had a "water view" you were preferred.

You'd get better responses if you posted this on the DVC Board.

I had the last room on the third floor facing the Swan/Dolphin as a standard view last year (3002). It was before they tore down the DVC offices, so the roof was in our view, plus Jellyrolls dumpster. There are other posts on the DVC board where members complained their "preferred view" was in the same area as yours, on the end near the canal. Member Services responded that since their was water in the view, it was preferred. In 2003 we had the corner room above the pond, lots of water in the view and it was standard. Seems to be "borderline".
