Just received a letter from DVC or Disney World informing me that the Boardwalk Villas/Boardwalk will be rehabbing the Keister Coaster slide at the Luna Park Pool beginning 2/7/10 until mid March. The pool will remain open. UGHHHH! We are finally getting to stay at the Boardwalk and now there wont be a slide to use at the pool.
The letter did state that Boardwalk resort guests will be able to use Stormalong Bay and transportation would be available to the Beach Club. Anyone else receive this notice?

Will this be a huge inconvenience? Will it be a huge hassle to go to Stormalong Bay?

Received the same letter... Now, last time we went down in February, it was 40 degrees! So not sure how much pool weather we will get. :) This is our first stay over there, so not sure how the "transportation" will work... can't you walk over to the Beach Club from the boardwalk (or at least take the water taxi over?)

Maybe i'm nuts here...but we got a note that the slide only will be rehabbed at Beach Club during our january trip...

january 2011....next year is 11. we got the same letter directing us to use the boardwalk slide at that time.

guess they are just doing some sort of refinishing work on the slides in sequence...wouldn't be surprised if more go out next jan-feb for the other resorts/ villas.

but again...january 08 and feb 09 were the worst weather we've ever encountered at WDW...and we have frequently traveled, used the pools heavily in the winter months for about 10 years prior.

i have my suspicion that the pendulum may swing back to warm this winter...as they are being scorched down there this year and the entire east coast of the US was and absolute oven this summer.

we'll see what mama na'ture has in store for us

Well, I got both letters! :lmao:

January trip at BCV the slides will be closed so the option to go to BWV...
March trip at BWV the clown slide is closed to the option to go to Stormalong Bay... :rotfl:

Don't really see what transportation is needed since it's an easy walk between the 2 resorts... though I use a scooter so maybe it only seems that way to me.... :moped:

I'm thinking taking transportation would make it longer, unless they intend to shuttle folks between on the service vehicles....

We stayed at the Boardwalk in Sept. 2009. We spent one morning in the BW pool and dined iin Cape May Rest. that evening. When we saw Stormalong Bay we were drooling. But that pool is offlimits to everyone but Yacht Club & Beach Club guests so we could only look. But if we could have, we would have walked over and swam there.

It's a quick walk around the lake to Stormalong Bay or you could take the boat. If I remember correctly, the boat goes to Epcot first then to the Beach Club. It would probably bre quicker to walk.

Enjoy your stay!
