Hi all,
I read somewhere that some studios at the Boardwalk Villas have a small daybed - we have a little guy who is just turning 3 and takes up very little space.:D I know studios only accommodate 4 people but I wondered if these particular rooms accommodate 5? Has anyone ever stayed in one of these rooms? Any input appreciated - thanks!

Those particular rooms at BWV (also known as dedicated studios) do accomodate 5 if the 5th person is a young child. The daybed is small - not at all like the twin bed sized daybeds in many of the deluxe hotels. The daybed in these rooms is about 4 feet long and quite a bit narrower than a bed. However, it should work well for your little one to sleep on.

You may request a dedicated studio, but there is no guarantee that you will be assigned one of these rooms. However, my understanding is that parties of 5 are given priority for these rooms over smaller parties.

Carol,
I think you are going to be my new best friend!:D I was hoping you'd be here today. You always answer so quickly! I was really hoping for that answer too. My husband and I are waiting to hear if our resale at BWV is going to go through and in the meantime are trying to hold ourselves back (with not too much success I might add!) from also purchasing a Beach Club contract. We had a very difficult time deciding between the 2 resorts but BWV won because of the possibility of booking standard view rooms. Thanks again for your help!

You're very welcome. Hope the BWV resale comes through very soon. I know how hard it is to wait!

I stayed at BWV in Oct. for 8 nights with my sister and 5 year old nephew. I REALLY wanted the studio plus (that's what they call the studio with the daybed) as my nephew could sleep on that, and my sister and I could use the bed, and we wouldn't need to open up the sofa bed at all.

When I made the reservation at 11 mos. I requested nonsmoking, studio plus, top floor, in that order. About 5 months before our trip I called back and dropped the "top floor" request, hoping that would up my chances of the daybed.

When we checked in we were given a STUDIO PLUS, nonsmoking. on the first floor. Had I kept my top floor request, don't know if I would have gotten the daybed. It was more than roomy enough for my nephew.

Have a great trip!

Renee,
Thank you for your reply, it is nice to hear from someone who stayed in a "studio plus" (I didn't know they were called that). Can you tell me if it was a standard or preferred view? Do you know if both views have this type of studio? It sounds like you enjoyed your stay there. Do you think it would be too cramped for a family of 5? (My kids are 3, 4, and 8)

There are dedicated/studio plus units in both standard and preferred views.

hulagirl,

Did you see one of the posts today that stated that less than 10% of the rooms at BWV are standard view? I hope your resale at BWV comes through, but you may want to keep the info above in mind, if it doesn't.

We got a studio plus a few years back. My son was 5 at the time and he hated it. It was hard and small.

The worst problem, though, is that you are not guaranteed a studio plus. So if you have 5 and you don't get a studio plus, you are short one sleeping place. Five in one studio, even the studio plus, is extremely tight.

Thank you all so much for your replies!

Deb- thanks for your input. I wouldn't want my little guy to be uncomfortable all week while we're snoozing away in a comfy bed! (They are comfy, right? :)I am concerned about the space issue as well...I'll have to think about that.

missyndda - I did read that thread and have educated myself on day by day booking (Thanks to you guys!) and will hope for the best. Still, preferred view would be fine. We'd just have to stay a day or two less or switch accommodations, I guess. Or try out the ever so wonderful Old Key West I've been dying to stay at!

Carol - If ever I request a studio with a daybed, just what exactly should I call it???! A dedicated studio plus deluxe room should work right?;)

You're all so great! Thanks again for your help!

Ahh, but do you want a standard view dedicated studio plus deluxe room or a preferred view dedicated studio plus deluxe room? ;)

Just see if they can get you the studio plus. That's what we had on our reservation sheet when we got one. By the way, our son gave up the daybed after the first night. He slept with me and dad slept on the sleeper. And, yes, both the sleeper and bed were comfortable. Much more so than the upholstered luggage stand ( I mean, daybed).

We were in a standard view studio plus and my nephew had no complaints.

Wow Crusader! Thank you so much for posting such beautiful pictures of the BW. I spent a long time this morning enjoying them and wishing I was there instead of in the middle of another upstate New York blizzard!

Hulagirl you are very welcome! Glad you enjoyed them. I hope everything works out with your vacation.
