Hello!

We recently stayed at AKL Jambo and it was absolutely amazing but I would like to be more in the center of the action next time.

We will be renting through DVC and are a family of 5. 2 adults, 3 kids (12,10,6) I absolutely cannot do a studio, I will lose my mind!

I am looking to rent a 1 bedroom but BWV only sleeps 4, I know I can bring a 5th I just have to supply my own bedding. Is there room to set up an air mattress?

A lot of the 1 bedrooms that I have looked into only sleep 4! Why they dont have a pull down Murphy bed under the TV is beyond me 🙄

Please let me know your thoughts on adding an air mattress

Thank you in advance!

The resorts at Walt Disney World that can accommodate five guests in a one-bedroom villa are: Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Old Key West Resort, The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - both Kidani Village and Jambo House.

So Bay Lake and GF are your two choices if you want a central location and a pulldown 5th sleeper. Kids are usually pretty easy going about where they sleep(especially when the reward is Disney). Unless you want to spend more money Id stick with the BW 1 bedroom and bring that air mattress.

I hear you! I only have two kids but they won’t share. (Well they can but we value getting some sleep so we try not too!) So we book rooms that sleep five. It will be tight. There isn’t a lot of room to add the air mattress but it’s possible. I love the boardwalk area so I would do it.

There is plenty of room for the air mattress in a BWV 1 bedroom. It can go in the kitchen area, in the entry area by the front door, or under the small dining bar. We have done this many times when our boys were smaller.

Thank you both!! It's crazy how some studios sleep 5 but then some 1 bedrooms sleep 4! I just wanted to make sure there was room to add the air mattress. I've watched videos but it's hard to get a feel of how much space there is on the floor

GF is amazing but I don't have an arm and a leg to donate. And I just don't care for Bay Lakes theme at all! Its either AKL again or BW

You are right. I was thinking of when we squeezed in a dvc provided cot in the living area. That was tight but plenty of room otherwise. I’m off for some caffeine now ...

The murphy bed for kids won’t fit in BWV 1 bedrooms, because the door connecting it to a studio is in the spot where the murphy bed would go. That is why people staying on points can have 5 people, but they must bring their own bedding, including the bed.

Ah I forgot! The connecting door, makes sense!

I hear you on both counts! Especially about BLT; the themeing there is a complete turn-off for me. We've only ever stayed at BWI, but can assure you the location is hard to beat. So personally I'd try for that.

Thank you! I'm super excited to stay at BW

Just remember, DVC doesn't provide mattresses or cots. Housekeeping occasionally does, but they're giving you items other guests discarded and there's no warranty of not sucking.

Riviera sleeps 5 natively in a 1BR, BTW.

Yes I know, we always stay DVC so we know the drill. I would bring my own air mattress.

Thanks for the suggestion about Riviera! But for that many points I could stay in a 2 bedroom somewhere else. We're going to make this a long trip, so trying to be as cheap as possible without being squished!!

We love BWV 1bd room so much, it's totally addictive to have that much space/laundry and full kitchen.

The BW area is our favorite EPCOT resort. So much fun stuff to do, great vibe, right in the middle of a lot of action.

We really liked AKL, but it was quiet and we love the action of the EPCOT area.

Agree with the above posters, there is plenty of room for a blow up mattress.

If you like BWV, you'd love OKW it has twice the space, plus the twin sized sleeper chair. And a full sized washer and dryer (not stackables). The freezer in the refrigerator has an ice maker, not just ice trays. Most buildings don't have elevators though.

Oh I've had my eye on it, especially since they remodeled!! So much space there but talk about a huge resort!!!!

When we stay at BWV we bring this.

It takes up little space in luggage and fits in the closet during the day. It’s a backpacker’s cot, so very light and compact while being extremely comfortable. My kids fight about who gets the cot over the pull out. We take it everywhere. It’s called the Thermarest luxury ultra lite cot.

Wow that is awesome, that could work really well!
