We ended up booking a 1 BR Pref view for the middle of October. We tried for a St view, but nothing available, even off of the wait list.

My questions is, will I regret it if I request a BW view? How noisy is it? Any suggestions for BW view rooms that you have found to be OK?

We've had Boardwalk view 3 times. No noise with the balcony door shut. If you ask for an upper floor, you can get a GREAT view of fireworks at Epcot, which will be great with aforementioned 5 year old. (Just got back from same view with a 3 year old and it was awesome.)

I have had a boardwalk view many times and have never been bothered by noise even with the door open. The sounds you hear are pleasant, happy sounds that stop about 11:00 PM, and once you close the door you do not hear anything. A boardwalk view is wonderful!

We loved our Boardwalk view - it was the best - I wouldn't go back - we had a jazz band playing right under our window almost every evening for dinner. Lots of people laughing, magicians performing, my 2 year old nephew loved the boats and we could see three sets of fireworks from our windows - MGM, Epcot and MK in the distance. We had a grand villa and it was wonderful, have fun!

We had a Boardwalk view last year and loved it. It was noisy, however, on Saturday evening when there was a DJ outside at the end near Jelly Rolls. It was loud even with the doors closed. We were over the DVC office on the second floor. She was there when we came back to the room around 7pm and finished at 10pm.

It would have been very distracting to an excited 5-year-old but a pooped 5-year-old would probably fall asleep okay. I don't remember her there on Sunday night; those were the only two evenings we were in the room. Even with young kids, I'd choose a Boardwalk view - the music, laughing and clapping is part of the fun at Disney - so what if they stay up late on vacation. If I had a baby, I probably wouldn't.

Our (at the time) 19 month old had a wonderful time in our Boardwalk view 2BR in January. He LOVED the fireworks, and just people watching from the window. I would *definitely* try for the Boardwalk view!!!

Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement. Hope you guys are right, I just put in a request for an upper floor BW view.
