I have booked a one bedroom boardwalk view in December. Does boardwalk view mean the villa is actually ON the boardwalk, or does it mean that if you stand on your balcony and twist your neck around the corner, you will be able to see a couple of planks?

I just want to prepare DH as he is expecting to be able to reign over the boardwalk from his balcony.....

And absolutely the best view I have ever had at any WDW resort. Nothing better than sitting on your own balcony watching everything going on down on the Boardwalk. Especially the fireworks each evening. You are in for the treat of your life!

Here was one of ours:

I totally agree.

Pig Pen,
Sounds like your DH and mine are both would-be monarchs. Mine LOVES BW view and, after so many WDW trips, enjoys sitting on the balcony as much as doing the parks. A wonderful day for him is tanning by the pool then going to the room to take a shower and then drinking a cold one while sitting in his boxers on the balcony people watching.
All hail the newest royalty at BWV--Mr. Pig Pen! :worship:

Hey jade1,
what room id you have that you have that great nighttime picture from?
i'm travelling to BWV in a 1br with my autistic son and that would be a great view for him. he likes the view of fireworks but not the noise.

thanks!

Darn, that would take some digging, it was 4th floor but in 2002 if I remember. we were down past Big River I think just before the "blue waves" area began? If someone has a room number map you could get anything near big river or screen door (for a shorter walk) and its just perfect. 2nd floor last spring has much bigger balconies but do have a 3 or 4 foot solid wall you have to stand to look over-we kind of liked it-more private and bigger. They are all good though although we have never been put close to the green space-doesnt seem as good of a view and no SE view.

We have had BW view 5 times now I think. Only once were we facing the village green. Same room as DebbieB and I loved it - we could still see alot of the BW. I am sure you and your DH will love having a BW view. I always think I should book a standard view but always end up booking the BW view. :)

Ask for a high floor because we had BW view on the 2nd floor and you really couldn't see anything unless you were standing up--we had a wall on the balacony. My DD couldn't see unless she was standing on a chair. It was a nice view but you couldn't see anything sitting in the room.

I did request top floor for my trip last week, but all they had at check-in was second floor.

I had basically the same view as DebbieB the last two years. Our room was 3rd floor one year and 4th floor another. We were about 3 doors from the end of the LONG :) hallway.

We LOVE the boardwalk view - so I am a little sad that we switched 4 of our nights to Beach Club for our January 07 trip (kids wanted something different)... but I still get two nights in my Boardwalk view.

We have two preferred studios booked, I believe the reservation says "pool/water" view. Can I switch that to BW view - are they considered the same category? I realize a request is never guaranteed, but just wondering if it's "do'able".

Until a few years ago BW view was a request. Now it's a separate booking category. You can try to switch and even wait list if you want but it's not likely be come available.

Lizziejane,
Boardwalk View is now a specific request - and if it is available when you book - it is guaranteed. You reservation will state - Boardwalk view. It is the same number of points as the preferred views - but much harder to get.

You can always ask if it is available... and you can go on the wait list. We LOVE that view and I book 11 months out to be able to get it.

I agree with Dean - chances are slim - but sometimes it works out. Like I said, I just cancelled 4 nights in a Boardwalk view (for January) to switch over to Beach club at 6 months out - so it can happen.

FYI I just completed yesterday my January 21-29, 2007 trip and was able to secure Boardwalk view guaranteed (1 bedroom villa) for the entire stay. Now I did do the reservation day by day at 7 mths out, but it is now fully complete and had no waitlist issues to contend with. Hope this helps. And let me just say I can't wait.......to be the QUEEN of MY Domain....... :rotfl2:

Does anyone have pics of the standard view? We really don't want to pay 6 pts. extra a night - which adds up to 36 points total.

LOL! Whenever I've had a Boardwalk view and I get out on the balcony, I feel like belting out a chorus of "Don't cry for me Argentina", just like Madonna in "Aida". So tell DH he won't be the first!
