Boardwalk View only on points, no cash member ressies.

Anyone else been told that a member staying on points in a Boardwalk View unit, cannot link a cash reservation to the points reservation? You will have to move.

Were you able to book a guaranteed Boardwalk View on the cash ressie?

No, wasn't able to book BW view at all on cash. After informing CM about original plan to book the last nite on cash, and calling day-by-day, and being told "cash" bookings just weren't released to the date I needed as of yet, today on the 3rd attempt to book the cash portion, I'm told NO cash ressies for BW view. Must use points or relocate.

Member discounted cash reservations are offered when they do not anticipate the room will be booked for points. What is the chance a boardwalk view room would go unbooked for points? Member Services first priority is to have rooms available for points reservations.

Not talking about discounted rates. Any rates not to be done on BW view cash.

That doesn't surprise me at all. If BW view is as popular as it appears to be, then there are probably never any left unreserved on points, so therefore there would never be a cash ressie available for them.

We also tried to pay cash for our first night (Saturday), but were told we would not have a Boardwalk view our first night, and have to move to get it. So we decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra points.

What I've been told is these units are only declared into member point availability, a change since the BW view booking catagory began. (different from all other accommodations) UNLESS, if at 60 days out from needed dates there is availablity, you can book it with cash.

I've been told before that DVC has to keep the cash ressies "to pay bills".

Had I been told of this at the beginning of booking, rather than multiple CMs checking and not informing of this particular nuance, I would feel different.

I wanted others to know this for consideration in their trip planning.

Thanks for letting us know. I was thinking of adding an extra night to our December trip (have BW view reserved), I had a feeling it would be very difficult on cash and I don't have the points. If we need to add the night because of airfare, I may book a room at Boardwalk Inn, which I've done before and was lucky to get an AP rate.
