Boardwalk Resort vs Standard view question

Hi.. when looking at the description of resort vs standard view they are the same.. view of gardens, pool or parking area. I think if I book resort I am guaranteed a view of gardens but standard I could get one as well but more likely parking area? Anyone know?

I have a Boardwalk resort view booked and finally hit the chat button to ask about that. Was basically told that resort view will be better than standard but could be a mix of gardens and pool with some parking area in your view. I suspect they made this change so people can’t complain that they have the parking lot as part of their resort view. As long as I’m not staring at a roof or only a row of cars, then I’m happy.

We booked a standard view before they changed it, and I’m pretty sure we actually got a garden view. The room is nice

I think most of the rooms are kind far from the parking lot, so you aren't looking directly at it. There's a lot of green space and a row of trees around the perimeter on the parking lot side.

See the aerial map in this post for location of standard view rooms https://www.disboards.com/threads/bwv-standard-studio-view-of-what.3498521/ Since that photo was posted, two of the pool/garden 1BRs in the Luna Park Pool area (in the middle) have been converted to standard view because their main view was essentially the wall to the back of the pool despite being deemed, before the change, to be pool/garden view rooms.

The standard view room views are actually not bad because the parking lot is quite a distance away. The real issue you will have is getting a standard view room, particularly if seeking a studio or 2BR (all 2BRs are lock-offs and thus disappear with studio reservations). Essentially year round, those rooms disappear right at 8 a.m. at 11-months out (or even shortly before 11-months out by members reserving multiple days before your own 11-month out date begins).

The only thing you are guaranteed is what the description on the website says. Because the descriptions are the exact same you can absolutely pay more for a Resort View and get a parking lot view, you will receive no credit for the difference in price because it is what you booked.

Disney is trying to merge standard and resort views, it’s gotten quite complicated. For now you can gamble they will assign resort view bookings better rooms than standard view bookings- but that is all it is, a gamble.

Disney chat is completely unreliable, notoriously so actually. They always sound confident and because we have it in writing we think it matters. It doesn’t. Disney is not held to what they say on chat. Resort view includes parking lot views, it is there in black and white on the booking page- that Disney is held too and so are you. You will receive no credit or apology or anything if they give you a roof or parking lot/bus view as that’s literally what you contracted for. If you are going to be upset because you get a parking lot view then book a water view room. (That is Disney’s suspected goal, push people who don’t want really bad views into high category views by eliminating the middle view category.)

In addition to the comments above, the possibilities are influenced by whether you’re booking on the Inn side or the Villas side. Some of the comments above are specific to the Villas side. On the Inn side the potential parking lot views would be limited to those rooms that look out onto the porte cochere and the walkway to the bus stop, but I don’t know what would constitute a garden view on that side.
