My family and I are staying at the Boardwalk this August and we have never stayed there before! I was wondering that where would by possible standard room location be at the boardwalk? And from inside the hotel, can we enter the Boardwalk Bakery and such from entering it from inside the hotel? Or do we have to go outside first to enter it? I have never even been to the BW to even look around and I hope I made a good choice picking this hotel! Thank you for anyone who can help me :)

Greetings from a fellow New Jerseyan! The Boardwalk is such a fun place, you'll have a blast there! Standard views will most likely be facing the parking lot. The good news is that it should be relatively quiet. Unfortunately, you cannot access any of the QS options from inside the resort, you must go outside. However, at times I think they serve continental breakfast items in the Belle Vue Lounge inside the resort, but that may only be a seasonal thing. Have fun either way!

You will love the Boardwalk. We are DVC members and stay there whenever possible. The Standard rooms are as stated facing the parking lot and you have to walk outside to get to any dining. You will also have nightly entertainment from the street performers on the boardwalk. The pool has a great slide as long as you are not afraid of clowns. Also you can walk to both Epcot (enter through International Gateway) or HS from the resort. If walking to HS from BW exit out one of the back entrances (end of the long hallway) and follow the path as it will save a lot of time then if you exited out from the lobby. You can also jump on a Friendship to go to either HS or Epcot, and we have found the bus service to be good to other parks. We will be there again in 51 more days staying in a Standard view studio! Enjoy!

The downside to the Boardwalk are the busses. The Boardwalk is the 5th stop to get to MK, AK or DTD. At busy times, good luck getting on a bus. And it's a long ride getting back to the resort after a long day at the parks.

We love the Boardwalk. One of the nice things about staying in a standard room villa(besides the price:) ) is you can usually get a pretty good view of the high fireworks of Illuminations from your balcony. Ask for a room on one of the high floors facing the bus stop.

We always get off at the Swan(first stop) when we ride the bus to MK or AK or the boat to DHS. It saves quite a bit of time and is only a short walk from the Swan to our room.

Oh please....I don't mean to sound nudgy, but really??? I can't count how many times I've stayed at BW. We own DVC there. Doubt we would have bought there if the buses were so awful. They aren't. There are times that you may have a slightly longer wait, or ride once on the bus. But, that doesn't happen very often.
And the 5th stop??? Not in my experience. When boarding the bus at BW, I have seldom found many others on the bus already. So...while that means I get a seat, it also means that the bus will be making at least two more stops. At less busy times of day it means the bus will also stop at YC and BC.
I have never had an issue with finding a seat when leaving BW. Going back, at park closing??? Sure, it happens.

In all reality, I have had much worse bus service at other resorts. The ability to walk to both DHS and Epcot more than makes up for any bus issues. And as a previous poster noted, you can get off the bus at the Swan (usually the first stop) and then make the short walk over across the bridge to BW...takes under 10 mins.

To the OP...you will love BW. While you do have to go outside to get to the Bakery, you can use BelleVue Lounge for grab and go breakfast stuff. It is on the Inn side, close to the elevators. You can get pastries, bagels, coffee.
A standard room won't be overlooking the boardwalk but will be facing towards the parking lot, front entrance. I have had this view on the villa side and really like it.

My experience in the past 2 or 3 years is the MK bus from BW only goes to Swan & Dolphin after BW. First stop on the way back. In the morning, then run pretty often. I usually drive to AK and DTD.

Other than Bellevue, there are no eating places that can be accessed from inside the building, you have to go outside. One time I saw a grown man taking a tantrum in the lobby when told he would have to go outside for a restaurant on a rainy night. There's always room service.....

Are you staying at BWInn or BWVillas? Did you reserve through DVC (for the BWVillas) or did you reserve through Disney Reservation Center for either location? That will make a difference as to what a standard room location is.

Everytime I have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn and went to the Magic Kingdom, after getting on their Bus it then went only to the Swan and Dolphin.

Plus when leaving the Magic Kingdom once again it's only stops was the Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin.

We are DVC owners at both SSR and AKV. We love the Boardwalk and keep coming back! Next trip is in October....you will love the Boardwalk, so much to do and see and you are so close to two parks. You cannot access the bakery from the Boardwalk you will need to exit the resort and walk down to the bakery. Enjoy your trip! If you get a chance try the Flying Fish, it is excellent!!!

Have to agree with pp, we have never had any trouble with the BW buses. We have several MK buses that went directly to MK from the BW first thing in the morning, if not they only stopped at S/D. We are ones that also just got off at the S/D on the way back and walked over the bridge to the BW. Not exactly sure why so many people say the buses are awful, we have stayed at the BWVs since they opened and we have never encountered any trouble so don't let that bother you at all.

I guess you've been lucky? :confused3

We stayed at BWI last Easter. Sometimes, certain buses would just not arrive. Early morning, you would see 3 AK buses, then 4 Epcot, then no MK (when we wanted to go to MK). Sometimes waited 1/2 hour: unacceptable.

I also experienced some very frustrating times at night when we would be waiting at MK and several POFQ or ASMu would go by and NO BWI. Wth?? I am paying $400 a night for this hotel and no buses??

So this is why people may say the buses are awful.

I did complain at the front desk. I don't think they really cared.

The Bakery is a few doors down from the Boardwalk Inn, so you will need to walk a short distance along the boardwalk to get to it.

You'll love BWI. Our family has always enjoyed the atmosphere there.
