boardwalk pro and cons

We took our 1st trip home to BWV in April.

Absolute best location in Disney World!

Question:

When I peeked in at the Belle Vue lounge one evening, there were a lot of people in there, it looked really lively and I wasn't in the mood. After seeing photos on allears, I somehow thought it would be empty.

Does anybody have any experience with the Belle Vue Lounge. What is it like? Does the atmosphere change at some point during the day?

Maybe there was a wedding coming up at the BWI & that was a post-rehearsal dinner get together or something along those lines? Maybe just a big party, 'cause I've always seen it close empty. :confused3

I hope they don't close DQ...it is one of my favorite places in the whole world!!! Do you hear that Iger...I love Disney Quest!!!

I would hate for DQ to close, however I would love for ESPN Zone to move to DTD. Just a short walk from my front porch!

I'd love for it to move too, and get off my front porch. Other people say they can't smell it, but walking to Epcot in the mornings we are always greeted by the pleasant smell of last nights beer and cigarettes walking by ESPN.

If they are going to have an ESPN at Disney and move it to DTD, I'd like to see the space used currently for ESPN for a Epcot Resort area food court. The area (Y&BC as well) needs a decent food court - and BW needs it more (with the addition of the BC Marketplace at the BC) than the Y&BC does.

I've never seen it lively, usually I stop in for drinks to go and its me and the bartender, maybe a couple other people sitting around - and this is usually in the evening.

Thanks Crisi.

We went to WDW with my sisters and their kids, and I was looking for a place to get away from the commotion. That night, Belle Vue was not it.

I was in there one night chatting with the bartender and a gentleman who is the BW Security manager. Apparently, the atmosphere of the Boardwalk can change a lot depending on who is getting married and where the wedding parties end up. Both the Y&BC and the BW are popular places for wedding parties to stay, and the Boardwalk itself is a popular place for wedding parties from all the resorts to hang out for the night.

If the wedding parties are quiet types, the BW can be a quiet place. Apparently, security is on alert when there are three or four "rowdy" weddings since the groomsmen like to get drunk and get in fist fights.

Weddings and Conventions can change the Lounge from a nice quiet evening to lots of people. It is usually a nice place to sit and have a drink. Its one of my favorite places on property . Sometimes though it gets crazy !!!

That sounds like a great idea! :thumbsup2

Crisi,

Just to clarifiy, the Belle Vue didn't look rowdy that night, just standing room only, and the guest were wearing cocktail dresses and the like. They seemed to be laughing and having a good time.

I was thinking it would be kind of like Big Murgie's Den at HH. I love going in Big Murgie's and playing pool!

On their website it said they offer in room babysitting in addition to the kids club. Can anyone confirm that? I would love to go to Jellyroll's one night, and from what I understand, we can't take kids there.
Thanks!

I own at BWV and the main draw for us is the ability to walk to 2 out of the 4 parks. That is the only draw over the other DVC resorts. Last summer we tried Saratoga Springs. We had a car and I loved the fact we could park our car right outside of the building. Speaking of the building, it was very nice after a long day in the parks not to have to take that endless walk down hallways to find your room. I think that is very poor planning on BWV's part. The noise around Boardwalk and the insaneness of the pool also gets tiring after a while. With older children now, they don't enjoy how crowded it is either.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Location is the big draw to me. As the previous posters mentioned having two of the four close by isa huge plus. We stayed there in June and walked to Epcot several times to see Iliiuminations and/or concerts going on near the American Adventure..

I see alot of posts referring to the noise at the Boardwalk especially BW view We always stay BW view 2Brs right above the Big River. Our first year we were evan on the 2nd floor and as long as the Balcony doors were shut there wasnt much noisem evan with the Boardwalk full of people.

That is exactly where we stayed on our trip in April. We didn't here anything either.

It did seem kind of strange when we went out on our balcony at night and saw the tops of people's heads 10 feet below. My inner child had an urge to drop water balloons, but my mid-thirtees self thought not. (HE HE)

I'll take that location again in a minute.

I think the noise depends a lot on what you are used to. We found the noise to be noticable, but not disturbing from our room above the Screen Door, but a few years earlier when we were city dwellers I don't know that it would have been anything other than normal white noise. On the other hand, if we lived completely in crickets and frogs country, I would think it might actually be "noisy."

Another big "con" if you have someone in you're party that smokes is the distance to DSA's....they'd best be prepared to walk a mile.:sad2:

We have used in room babysitting twice at Boardwalk. Disney uses an outside company for this service. ( I think it was " Fairy Godmothers " ) We loved the woman we had , same one each time. She did an excellent job !!!

We are city-dwellers and used to noise - and I sleep with earplugs, and the music from Atlantic Dance Hall (we were about as close to it as you can get) was still really loud one night of our stay - it kept going until past midnight - but it was just one night, there must have been a party of some sort.

While we love BWV for the location....the lack of counter service makes it a very difficult resort for us. We have small children...usually do our TS at lunch and then head back to the resort for the afternoon by the pool. Then for dinner, we like a lighter meal, so we like to use our CS then...very difficult to have this eating schedule at BWV. It is definitely doable, but it takes thinking and timing.
