Boardwalk getting bad reviews??

We've stayed at the Boardwalk many times and have only had clean rooms & a wonderful time. :lovestruc We never saw roaches or any other bugs in the hotel. :confused3

Don't worry - you'll LOVE it there!!!:cloud9:

We just returned two weeks ago from BWV and didn't have problem one. We're DVC members and had a one-bedroom. There were a few things that didn't work but didn't affect our stay - one of the burners on the stove didn't work, one of the outlets in the bathroom didn't work and the air conditioner never shut off. I called maintenance the morning we were checking just to let them know. They apologized and said they were sorry and hoped it didn't affect our stay. Told them it didn't that's why I waited to call until the morning of checkout so they could fix it before the next guest checked in. Someone was knocking on our door to fix things as we were leaving.

If you think the other hotels on Disney property or any other place in Florida don't have those bugs, think again. They come with the climate. We live in Texas and have the same kind of "roaches." I have one in my own bathroom every now and again. They aren't the small roaches that are from living dirty, but big ugly ones that would much rather be outside. If that's the only negative that you're hearing about, please don't let it stop you from staying there. It really is a great resort!!

We were there exactly one year ago and saw a HUGE roach the first night in the bathroom area. DH killed it and called the front desk to let them know. They offered to move us, but since we had one of those very odd shaped but humongous rooms, we decided to stay put.

I will say that BWI is in deperate need of renovations. Everything seems very old and worn. Our room looked ridiculous being so large with a tiny little 27 inch old fashioned tv.

I have stayed at the BW hum, at least 6 times. I just wish they would rehab!

We were there (BWV) in mid April in a 2BR. No problems whatsoever. Everything worked fine no insect sightings. I do agree that the whole complex needs some renovations. Carpets are horribly worn and in general the place is showing it's age. Still we love the location. Walking to and from Epcot and MGM is pretty great.

My friend and her DH stayed at the BW a few weeks ago. On their previous trip they stayed at the Beach Club. They loved the BW and plan to stay there again on their next trip. She only had good things to say about it.

We stayed there (BWI) last November, and didn't really care for it...mostly because we like to stay in the MK area. I have to say the rooms are nice in big, but they are in need of updating. I didn't see any kind of bugs in the room, and actually found the rooms quite clean considering....one other problem we had was the walls are paper thin. We could hear everything going on in the room next to ours.

At certin times there will be bad reviews of any WDW Resort, because people like to focus more on the bad things and not mention the good things which happened to them. So try to look at it from that prespective if you can. If the Boardwalk is having upcoming renovations at least it's a start that they are trying to make things better.

What a perfect post! We all need to think about the postive more in life! I'm looking forward to our stay there in Oct.

we were there in April 4 nights at the Inn and then 4 nights at the villas in a 1 bedroom. It was great and we had no issues at all.

Mention here about Boardwalk and Roaches...Saw on "another" travel board review about cochroaches and Polynesian? Obviously, both deluxe resorts and pricey...

Whats the story???????????

The BWI is going through a redo do. They started it this past December. Every resort has it "bugs" so to speak rather it be bugs or a problem with the bathroom etc. This month while at the AKL I was in the main lobby bathroom & saw a roach (big) just stomp my foot on it :rotfl: shouldn't have gotten under my foot :lmao:

Stayed at BWV last Aug and not one problem. We had a studio and it was clean and looked well taken care of. Have previously stayed at BWI and also had not one problems. Love the Boardwalk!:yay:

We stayed at the boardwalk about a year 1/2 ago and LOVED it! The atmosphere is AWESOME and the walk itself is just SO fun! You WILL enjoy it. I would not be too concerned but I would be ready for a little bit of construction, etc.

Come on...Disney wants you to have fun so they would not make too much of a mess of the hotel.;)

They are outside bugs and don't have anything to do with the resort but with the climate. I'm was born and raised in Delaware and never saw one of these bugs until I moved to Houston, Texas. We were scared to death of them because it was in the house and it flew across the room. My mom called an exterminator and he told her they are "tree roaches", are outside bugs and not to worry if we saw them in the house now and then. Just killed one walking out my back door two days ago. No need for panic!!
