Boardwalk Barbecue

Just enough to get you to purchase some more DVC points nothing more or nothing less.:p

Really people---is there a charge? I'd like to know too.

I didn't even know they were having a barbecue for members? That sounds like fun :)

I don't think it's at BW, I think it's at BCV but haven't heard a price yet. Given the price of Disney buffets and Mickey's back yard bar-b-que my guess is 20-25/pp.

Mary J--these things are for sales pitches. They will never charge you. I would not plan on making a meal out of what is there, it is probably going to be something to snack on. They have been having things like this once a week for years now, they are there to interest you in buying more points or maybe Saratoga Springs, but it is not a feast that is for sure.

It sounds like it is more than what has been offered at the morning meetings. They are offering hot dogs, hamburgs, chicken sandwiches and some drinks. How small can they make hot dogs?? Yes, I am sure there will be a sales pitch but I also think it will be interesting to attend. It sounds like the only thing that may be charging for is for special drinks. Just think how much the DVC makes, I think this would be nice if it was free. Time will tell. I will be there for the 15th and maybe the 22nd.

Did I miss something??

What is this bbq? When is it??? Sounds interesting since we are looking at buying more points!!

It is being held every Tuesday from July 1 thru Sept 2. It starts at the Boardwalk and the actual barbeque is at the BCV, Dunes Cove pool area. If you log onto the online dvcmember.com and go to the member news they have the write up on it. It sounds real nice. Make sure to wear your lime green ribbons. I'll be there on July 15 and 22

Thhanks, we are thinking of going 7/29 since we have plans for 7/22.

Then we're lighting the grill (and one candle) because it's time for the Member Day Barbecue, celebrating the first anniversary of Disney's Beach Club Villas. Head over to Dunes Cove Pool area for hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches, soda, beer, wine, and the Member Day Drink Special (all for an additional charge).

That is from dvcmember.com. So it sounds like there will be a charge (or does it just mean drinks will be an additional charge?)

I understood this as an extra charge for the beer, wine and drink special. But the barbecue was for free.

Do you think it will be worth changing our HDD ressie we have for Tuesday, 8/19? We would like to go to the DVC events, but if it will just be a sales pitch to buy more points, we can miss it.

Thanks!

The wording is confusing. I also interpreted as meaning the alcohol is additional, but it may be the barbecue as well.

Either way, I plan on going 7/29. It's not often that I'm there when these special member events pop up. I'm looking forward to it.:D

Just talked to MS and food will be sold a-la-carte like counter service. Didn't have specific prices but I'm sure it will be about the usual for Disney. There will also be special event member merchandise for sale. There will be the usual tours of BCV and special activities for kids.

I thought there would be a charge for anything you eat or drink! Since we are staying at the BCV, we thought we would check it out on 7/29 too but kept our 8 p.m. Ps at Bomas.

Did you ask MS what time it started? According to Member News, the activities at the BW start at 5:30 p.m. and "then they're firing up the grill at Dune's Cove pool". I kinda thought about 6 or 6:30.

Don't be surprised if you get a pitch about using the member referral program. This is one of the ideas they mentioned for promoting that program when I attended a recent focus group.

Since when did DVC need a sales pitch ? We flock to them like lemmings. Have sales slowed down to a point where they are trying to stir up additional enthusiasm from members ?

In the beginning, DVC hosted wonderful member get-togethers at OKW. They'd have hot and cold hors douevres, wine, etc.

I honestly don't remember if they were trying to sell add-ons. What I recall is a chance to get together with other members and share our experiences. Keep in mind, it was still a fairly new concept and it was fun to meet and talk to others who took the plunge.

For anyone who was on the Member Cruise, one comment repeatedly made was how terrific it was to be with so many other members. It's hard to explain. Maybe it's because we all "get it" or are bonafide Disney Nuts, it's great!

I'm excited at the prospect of being there for this.
