i have been wanting to go to a boarding school for awhile and i found a really nice one that is only four hours away from home
but.... i don't want to be away from my parents that much
so have any of you ever wanted to go to boarding school or want to go to one?
what are your thoughts on boarding schools?

Never had any desire whatsoever to go to boarding school. :)

I always wanted to, but it never worked out for me. I have a few friends that are performing arts majors at local boarding schools and they love it.

I think I would have loved it, but then you are tied down to only performing at your school. I dont know, I like variety and the option to perform elswhere. (This was only at the school I wan considering)

I go to boarding school. I have been here for four years. I love it and I am sad to leave for college, but I know that after being here for so long, I am deffinately prepared for college. When I started here I only lived 45 minutes away so I got to see my mom a lot, but then you get so used to being on campus and so close to your friends you just stop going home eventually. And then in my Junior year we moved to TX so now I don't live so close to my mom, but the school still feels like a home to me, so I miss my mom less. If you want to know anything else you can PM me.

I used to go to boarding it was absolutely amazing I loved it I deffinately never felt homesick as i was so close to all my friends and i'm think about going to one in Wales next year I would deffinately give it a try if you can

I wanted to, and then I got to thinking of things that wouldn't work out for me. They just wouldn't. It has nothing to do with being homesick.

yeah i found a great one but i am really scared the homesickness will be a problem
the school will be four hours from my house

Like I said the people you become friends with become your family and they help you get through everything and anything. by Christmas you wont want to go home on the weekends anymore, you will want to stay at school with your friends. And most likely the school will have stuff for you to do on the weekends to keep you occupied. Like I said if you want to talk about it just PM me. I wouldn't mind giving you my IM address either. I also wrote a paper about surviving boarding school if you want to read it.(it's sort of funny)

I've always wanted to go to one like in Zoey 101. haha. But I know they're probably not as cool as that ;)

I could never ever ever live at a boarding school. Probably because I wouldn't want to live with a whole bunch of girls. They would dislike me and we'd fight. I don't get along too well with most girls XD.

Wow. Talk about disconnecting with your family.

i realy would like to go to one, but my school is too kool to give up

Wow. Talk about disconnecting with your family.

who said I am disconnected to my family? My father died when I was five so I am really close with my mom, she is like my best friend. But going to boarding school has made me grow as a person. I am now more independent. I don't need her as much, but I am still very much connected to her and the rest of my family. Just because you are no longer living with your family doesn't mean you are disconnected to them. What do you think happens when you go to college? You stop talking to them? They disown you? They aren't no longer a part of your life, they just aren't breathing down your back, you are just more independent. You learn how to take care of yourself at a young age. For some it's good, for others it's hard. But for most, they get through it, you're going to have to go through it sooner or later, I just chose sooner.

I wonder why my family hates it, I mean my cousins. I love it though, trying to find a good one.

Okay, that was a general you, not a you you.

Like you said, you'd rathar spend Christmas with your friends. You don't even want to go home anymore. I find that as disconnecting with your family.

We all have our own opinions, this is mine.

you read it incorrectly. I said by Christmas break you wont want to spend the weekends at home. I never said I wouldn't want to go home. My goodness I am already counting the days until I can get the h*** out of here for spring break. but that doesn't mean that I want to go home this weekend(or in my case to a relatives house seeing as my mom is in TX now and I am in CT). Yes I go crazy here sometimes, no one can stay on a school campus with the same people for too long with out going a little insane, but for the most part it is a good experience and you rarely get homesick. There is too much to do, you barely ever have TIME to get homesick. I mean I have class all day then sports in the afternoon then dinner and after dinner I have 2 hours of study hall and then some more studying sometimes and then I hang out with my friends and then I sleep. And tomorrow night we have the semi formal dance and since we sold 100 tickets our head of school is giving us the day off of school on wednesday. That's a perk to going to a private school, we get random days off because we don't have to go to school a minimum amount of days because we aren't run by the state.

I'd have probably loved it.
