bmi seem to have some great price flights so I thought I might give them a go. The only thing stopping me is not knowing if their website lets you select your seats. It doesn't give this information upfront and I would only use if I could select window/aisle seats (it's 2-4-2 I believe).

Anyone know?

Hi Moira,
We booked with BMI a couple of months ago, you cant choose seats online, but I called reservations and they assigned us two pairs of window seats and gave us specific seat numbers.

Cheers Michael

Yes, you can definitely do that online when you book, and you can change it later if you wish.

As you say, they have some great prices at the moment. We just booked Manchester to Chicago for November at £465 each return, premium economy. Bear in mind that BMI Premium Economy has a 49" seat pitch, by far the best in class.:cool1:

Even with an internal flight to MCO with AA or TED, it still works out a great deal. Just a shame they don't fly direct to Florida.

Economy is definitely 2-4-2, with good IFE.

Great airline, if you don't mind a connecting flight.

Strange, because it is an automatic option on the online booking process. Did you book direct with www.flybmi.com?

Yes we booked via bmi.com, didnt see any option for seats, can you log in and look at and change seat assignment as you can with Virgin?

Yes.

Go to "My BMI", quote your reservation number, and you can adjust your seating, choose your food etc. quite simply.

:thumbsup2

After posting my question, I got impatient and decided to give bmi a call (Indian call centre I think) and was told that you cannot book seats online but you select them at online check-in, 24 hours before take-off. Now this is the one reason I will no longer travel with BA.

From the information given here though, maybe the call centre didn't give me the full picture, or maybe jmagla, you were travelling with young children? BA pre-allocates if you are travelling with young children too.

Thanks for the replies :thumbsup2

You both posted whilst I was composing - really good to know how it is :flower3: One final question Revtel, have you used this facility recently?

Hi Revtel,
I have logged in to "my BMI" and can view my booking but there is no mention of seat numbers or indeed food options, it purely details the schedule, i.e. flight times and cost.

Yup.

I booked online on 31st. December (Monday past), and received an email confirmation two minutes later, including...

Mr Terence Hudson ( No Special Meal , seating:11A )
Mrs Dawn Hudson ( No Special Meal , seating:11C )

Now either they have changed the arrangements for 2008 or else the call centre person is mistaken.

Best of luck! :)

All I know is that we flew with BMI economy in November and were able to choose our seats and arrange a diabetic meal for my wife, all online.

I have just checked the site now, and they may well have changed this very recently (in the last few days!), which would be rather sad. As I said in my previous post, I was able to do this when I booked earlier this week for November. Anyway, you say that you were able to arrange seats by telephone which is the next best thing.

For us, the great advantage is the seating arrangement - 2/4/2 - which is great now that we are "empty nesters" with only two of us travelling. I can never work out where we sit when we fly with airlines which work in threes! :confused3

By the way, it was the best transatlantic flight we have taken, so I hope you have as good an experience as we had. :)
