Yes folks yet more flight questions! I'm now considering doing something that I swore I wouldn't do again- travel from Manchester!I can get BMI flights £220 cheaper than Continental from Glasgow & for that price I can put up with a lot:goodvibes For those that have used them how easy is the connection in Chicago?
SD:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Easy connection, but you have to change terminals, so check out the airport layout before you travel. Your connection will be with United (Ted). Check out the price for PE before you book though. It's very good - 49 inch seat pitch!

BMI are great :thumbsup2

Totally agree, we went with BMI a few years ago, but went to Chicago on the way back home.

A mate of mine is currently out there and did this, it's his first time in Florida also, I will ask him when he gets back what he thought.

done a few times to chicargo, easy to get around.donig again in aug with bmi

Done this too and there have been a fair few threads recently on the same route. We had a couple of delays going but i never blame the airlines for this.

Loved BMI and TED were pretty good legroom.

Thanks folks:thumbsup2 Ideally I would have liked to fly in & out of Glasgow/Edinburgh direct but at that time of year only Globespan are doing this & I've got to weigh up their negative press & flying into Sanford against flying out of Manchester or London. At the minute the operators are wanting a small fortune for internal connections so that then brings driving down to Manchester into the equation.Obviously Virgin direct would be preferable but as we used them last time & weren't overly impressed ,are they worth the £250 extra to not change at Chicago,in the past we have either flown direct into International or Sanford so stopovers are unknown territory for us.Decisions-Decisions!

If you can get a lift into Edinburgh maybe consider the train right to MAN airport, but it might have to a night before job with the west coast line.

You can book 12 weeks in advance on the virgin train site, 2A + 2C for £98 with a railcard for June just now.
Not too bad if you consider petrol, parking and no nodding dog syndrome behind the wheel. :)

Don't know about Glasgow train costs.

Thanks Shooby doo for the original post, I havent thought about going from Manchester, but its only 2 hours from us and I've saved £290 on the price quoted for VA from Gatwick and £251 for the price quoted VA from Manchester. I can live with a connecting flight for the saving :rotfl2:

Sounds good, well done!

It does seems strange to me that we can book FOUR flights (two transatlantic and two internal) with BMI for far less that two transatlantic flights with Virgin.

They really do need some competition on the MCO route.

we looked at direct flights to sanford they were £775 for aug plus £25per person for transfer to disney return.whe have booked indirect cost £660 per person. For flights were classed as 4 adults bot flights, plus free transfer ME .saving using the bmi flight £560. Acomodation for pop 8 nights £296 car for 2 weeks £230 aprox( going for 3) saveing pay for it, no brainer IMHO
If we booked it around jan 3rd would have saved more as the indirect flights were comeing out at £560,but had to wait for outhers to decide

Hi Paulh

Can I ask which company you are booking your car through? seems a good price and its the next job on my list :cool1:

Thanks everyone after all that I ended up with BA,I persuaded myself that changing in Gatwick was alot less hassle that changing somewhere in the US & as much as I was willing to drive down to Manchester DW knows me well enough to know that I wouldn't be a happy camper drving back up! Thanks Jakey the problem was that I can't leave work until Midnight & I'm back at work the night we land at 6.00pm! It's really is frustrating when you have an "International" Airport on your doorstep but still have to go via...... to get to where you want to go!
