So I put in a pair of contacts last night (there 30 day wear and near the 30 day mark). They were hard to get in but thats normal for me. My eyes ended up very red and bloodshot so I took them out after 5 or so hours. This moring my eyes had a bit of pus on the lids and were blurry. I thought this would go away after awile but it clears then comes back. So right now ive got one blurry eye (was the other one before) that isnt painful and is only a little pusing. Is this normal when you wear contacts that are too old? Im just worried that it may be pink eye AGAIN! TIA (ps. Ive only worn contacts for a few months.

Most likely they are too old. I'd leave them out for a day or two and give your eyes a chance to rest, then put in a new pair.

beware of getting GPC -Giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC) is a condition where the inner surface of the eyelids becomes irritated and inflammed. In giant papillary conjunctivitis, large bumps (papillae), appear on the underside of the eyelid.

yeah, may be take it off when it is unnecessary or change for another pair.

You aren't cleaning them properly or something if you are getting pus. Simply being old won't cause pus. I would make an eye dr appt to rule out any infection or issues.

Are you sure it is pus?

I have a very difficult time wearing contacts because I am an incomplete blinker. ( My eyelids will start a blink, encounter the contact lense, and think I've fully blinked and open back up...according to my eye doctor) This causes the contacts to get cloudy and gunky and irritates my eyes.

its a white discharge type of pus. Orginally I thought pink eye (due to the cat) but Ive never had blurriness with Pink eye. It seems to be getting better, I can read now without too much trouble (thank gosh. I was so missing my Scarpetta fix).

I have this too but I still wear my contacts. :) OP I would put in a new pair, but let your eyes have a rest for a few days, that will help them feel better. :)

I buy 6 months of contacts and use them up over 2 years with daily use of 5 am to 10 pm. I doubt "old contacts" are the cause. Dirty contacts maybe, but not old.

I regularly thoroughly clean them also before putting them away for the night and before using the next day, about once a week.

I make my 6 month supply last at least a year also. Just be careful Mrrodgers, my eye Dr told me that I was starving my eyes of oxygen by always having contacts in except to sleep. So now I take them out when I'm in for the day(around 7) and wear my glasses until bedtime(11)
