DS just learned they are going to be doing some studying of pirates after our cruise (his innovative teacher is including the movie the pirates of the caribbean for one of the inticements for the class-GREAT teacher!!) anyhow DS has to do a slideshow presentation of our trip and I thought while we were in St. Thomas some pirate stuff would be great to film for the class, anyone know how easy/hard it is to get to bluebeards castle or any other pirate things from the eastern? St. Martin is out as we are going to Anguilla for the day on the dolphin trip. Did CC have anything to do with pirates?

We took the historic sites walking tour at St. Thomas and one of the stops was Bluebeard's "Castle." We REALLY enjoyed the tour and got a great lesson on the history of the island, and it was one of the less expensive excursions. Definately a great way to spend a few hours in the morning. I believe bluebeard's castle wasn't actually built by bluebeard but that somewhere along the line it was attributed to him as part of a romantic pirate story. Now it is part of a resort(on their grounds) so I'm not sure if you can just stop by on your own or what, but I'd imagine they have some kind of tour.

I guess I can't bring back a photo of his castle if it really was not his.. I think I will try to do some research this weekend on the real pirates of the caribbean and see if I can come up with something.. thanks again.
