Blue Zoo? Where is it? Reviews?

I just returned from a trip to the Dolphin and was going to eat at Bluezoo, but my DH looked at the price of one oyster and said, "no thanks." It was smaller than I thought and the restaurant was pretty empty at about 8:45 Tuesday night. The bar had a few people. The hostess was nice let us go look at the dancing fish. I live near great, reaonably-priced seafood, so I was not disapointed to skip this restaurant. You can make a reservation on-line (and cancel it) and the reply is prompt. Overall, the restaurant is dark, sleek, and perhaps too high-priced because of a celebrity chef's name....

I was thinking that I might make a ressie for our upcoming Aug-Sept trip, but after the last post, I'm reconsidering! We live in the Philly area and have easy access to phenomenal restaurants (both in Philly and NY). We love to eat great meals, but have rarely had memorable meals at DW that can rival anything we get at home. That said, we still make the attempt because we enjoy our meal time with our DDs (11 and 13). I've tried to mix up our ressies for our upcoming trip, some nice meals, some lunches, some casual meals, and 1-2 ressies per day. Last August I left a few days without any dinner ressies and we had a difficult time making last-minute ressies. Maybe I'll post the PS we've made to date to get some opinions on our choices.

Actually, the Blue Zoo has gotten a # of very favorable reviews. We're dining there ourselves on our October trip.

DH & I ate at blue zoo in March. The food was very good, the seafood was ultra-fresh and the service was attentive. Our dinner was worth the price that we paid and had "moments of greatness", particularly our scallop appetizer. The scallops were served on a piece of braised short rib. Sounds unusual, but it was GREAT. We still use those scallops as the standard gainst which all other scallops are measured. We also loved the chocolate dessert that we shared-lots of plate scaping! While we are not big bread basket people, there was a delicious whole-grain roll (South Beach acceptable) that we enjoyed. While we didn't eat them, most of the other bread basket items looked just as good.

You can drive to the Dolphin for dinner & have the blue zoo cover the $10 valet parking fee. Our server offered to call ahead to valet, as we paid our check, so that our car would be waiting.

California Grille is our absolute favorite dinner spot, but I would now rank blue zoo as #2.

I'm not surprised at the pricing. Living around Boston I am privy to many of Todd's restaurants - all in the upper tier, $$ and taste/ style-wise. But I have always found it worth it. If you enjoy dining and dining well, Todd usually delivers.:goodvibes

We chose between Tchoup Chop and bluezoo for our Sept trip and went with Tchoup Chop since Emeril doesn't have a restaurant up here.

Okay, Donalds_vacation, where's Tchoup Chop? That sounds interesting! My husband and I both went to BC, so we visit the area often. You have awesome restaurants up there!
