Does anyone know if there is a blue sleeping beauty costume or if anyone can sew one? My 7 yr old really wants to wear the blue dress to MNSSHP of course... she cannot just pick the pink one, right? :)

I wanted the blue dress for the Pirate and Princess party but couldn't find one anywhere! I even tried Ebay and there was nothing. Maybe you will have more luck! :)

Why not just make her Cinderella? Or does she have her heart set on Sleeping Beauty?

LOL My 4 yr old niece calls Sleeping Beauty "Sleeping Doody" It's to the point that we all call her that. LOL

OMG, that blue dress is so rare. I sew, but simply do not have the time for a sewing project right now as I just bought a house and am in the middle of a HUGE redecorating project. . .hopefully someone will step forward. . . let me see if I can get my designer friend to make a pattern. . .

I don't think you're going to be able to find a Sleeping Beauty blue dress (and I may get flamed or start the never ending debate :guilty: - of course neither of which are me intention) but only because from what i've read her official color is pink because each princess has her own official color - and Cindy got the blue.

My best advice, find a pattern for Sleeping Beauty and sew it out of the blue material (or if you're not that good with a sewing machine ask someone to do you a favor - I always con my mom into making the kids costumes :thumbsup2 )

Best of luck to you - and have a blast at MNSSHP

Shoot, she is in the middle of doing the spring fashion collection so does not have the time for a side project. . .I usually manage to get her for Christmas projects, but that is always after the spring runway shows. . .

Just a quick thought, but if the sewing is the route you want to take, I could ask my mom to do it???

A girl after my own heart! I'll keep my eye out for her, but I've never seen a blue dress either.

I think that I might've seen a blue Aurora dress on some Halloween costume site once upon a time. Look for sites like that. They won't be officially Disney sanctioned dresses, but good enough.

We had one made 3 years ago. It turned out great!

DD is small for her age, and the pattern ran big, so she's still able to wear it. Even if she'd outgrown it, I don't think I could get her to part with it. :)

She always seems to get a lot of extra attention in blue. princess:

Good luck, and have fun at MNSSHP! In 2005 we went with DD in her gown, and I made costumes for myself & DH as Maleficent & Prince Philip.

It's not Aurora's costume but have you seen Minnie's new blue dress? I had an awful time getting DD6 to take it off. She absolutely loved it!

The skirt has built in fiber optics and lights up - Perfect for evening wear.
It exactly matches the one Minnie Mouse wears in Epcot and I'm told that's the only place she can be found in it.

We saw a little girl in the blue dress when we were there a few weeks ago. I got to talking to her Mom and like you, she could not find the blue dress anywhere. Very smart idea- she got a pattern for the Dorothy dress from the Wizard of Oz and used that as a pattern for the dress. If you look at them they are very similar although you will have to make a lot of your own personal touches. Maybe you could try that????? I would have to buy it since I am not talented at all:(

Simplicity actually makes a Sleeping Beauty pattern. It's even a Disney pattern. You'd just need it done in blue instead of the pink that's pictured. It goes up to a size 8. If you're looking for her casual look where she's hiding out in the forest I can recommend a pattern that could be adapted.

Simplicity 9384 is the pattern for dress that goes from pink to blue.

I sew myself and take commissions, but I'm pretty swamped with personal projects and morning sickness is kicking my butt. If you really can't find anyone to make it or something that will work and she's really really set on it drop me a note... and I'll see what I can do.

The second blue dress link posted was the one I've seen. They don't make it in a size that would fit me, and that makes me sad. It only goes up to 8/10 and I need a size 12/14. But I guess that I should be somewhat happy that I can fit into kids clothes at all, haha!

The simplicity pattern a pp mentioned is great. My dd wanted to be sleeping beauty for halloween a few years ago. So off we went but she did not like the pink so my sister volunteered to sew a blue one for her. She used the simpicity pattern. When I was buying the material dd asked if it could look like when the fairies were fighting over it. She wanted it both pink and blue. So my sister made it half blue and half pink. We had it made large so dd can still wear it. Here is a picture of dd in in at the Princess Tea last august:

Make it blue! Make it pink! Make it blue! Pink! Blue! Pink!
:rotfl:

What a creative idea! How did Aurora like it? :cutie:

I just had an image of that dress made out of blue/pink iridescent fabric. Ah, if my DD would wear princess dresses, I'd be on the hunt...
