Blue Bayou????

We LOVE Blue Bayou and go every time we are at DL. We actually served the potatoes at our wedding because they are SO good.

While I really enjoy the ambiance of BB, a less expensive, less "special" alternative is Cafe Orleans. It is right across the "street" from BB and serves almost all of the same food. I know for sure that the Monte Cristo and Chicken Gumbo are the same because I asked the chef when I was asking for the gumbo recipe.

It's rather nice to sit out on the verandah and people-watch. The service isn't quite as good and the menu is definitely not as upscale but it is a good alternative and I enjoyed it. If you do eat there, don't pass on the Mickey beignets. They are faboo!

We just got back and ate at both BB and Cafe Orleans. Some of the food is the same, but there is enough variety to make both restaurants worthwhile. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed our BB meal as much as ever. The food quality was excellent and our server, Nancy, was perfect! We had the prime rib, the Monte Cristo, the pork and a kid's meal and they were all fabulous. The chocolate cookie boat was awesome! My only complaint is that they didn't have any chocolate dubloons packaged up for us to take with us when we left. :lmao:

Cafe Orleans was fun, too. We sat by the railing and enjoyed people watching, the pirate band, and a surprise visit from Jack Sparrow as he wandered by. :thumbsup2 The food there was wonderful, too, especially the beignets. Yum! I would highly recommend both places. :thumbsup2
