I want to make a reservation at Blue Bayou for lunch and was wondering if I book it online can I request a table by the water or would it be better to call to do that?

You can't request a waterside table when you make a reservation. You have to do it when you check-in. The best way to get waterside is to make the first reservation of the day (11:30?) and show up 20 minutes early for the reservation and request waterside.

They will always (or almost always) warn you when you check in that a waterside table will have a 45-minute wait. That is almost never true; I've rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes, though once it took 20 and once they lost our reservation and didn't even know we were still waiting. By the time we were seated, it had gone from lunch to dinner and we weren't allowed to order a Monte Cristo because they told us we had been informed it could be a 45-minute wait and therefore accepted that we could no longer order lunch. They sort of brushed over the part about losing our reservation :rotfl:

The warning about a 45-minute wait can be true if you have a larger party, as there are only 2 tables that seat bigger groups (I think 6 or 8). If your party is larger than that, you can't do waterside unless you have more than one table.

Awesome tip! Thanks!!!

While I agree that the CMs will almost always warn you that the wait will be 45 minutes for a waterside table (and it is general much less than that), there is one time when that is close to true. They seat the first round of guests at the tables along the water. So later round of guests will have to wait until one of the first tables sat finishes. So, if you have a 11:30 reservation, you should be okay for a waterside table (we've been able to request one), but if you have a noon(ish) reservation, you'll have to wait until the guests seated at 11:30 am to finish before a waterside table opens up. So if you want lunch, I would make sure to get a reservation for opening.

I agree with the tip to get the first reservation to ensure a waterside table if you really want to. Last time we were at DLR there were 8 of us, and I made a 4:30 dinner reservation. This turned out to be perfect, because by the time they seat you and you order, it's after 5 pm. Do this for lunch at 11:30 if you want the Monte Cristo, or at 4:30 if you are like me and love the Surf and Turf! :teacher:

anyone know if the BB does anything special for an anniversary?

Just wondering when you are going? I was recently surprised a trip for early December. The other day we tried to make ressies for 12/3 and was told that BB will be closed for a refurb in December. I am totally bummed as that was one of my "Must Do's". I am hoping that Pirates doesn't close as well.

When we went we had our anniversary buttons on. They brought us a dessert with a candle in it. It was some kind of chocolate mousse in the shape of a Mickey head. It was delicious! It was a total surprise since we didn't tell them we were celebrating.
