I will be going to Disneyland for my Honeymoon in March. My fiance has never been to Disneyland and I am trying to surprise her with a nice meal at the Blue Bayou! I have only been to the Blue Bayou once, and have sat in the middle of the dining room. Is there any way to request a water front seating on the reservation? Or do I have to show up early and request it? Has anyone had this type of experience? Thanks for all of your help in advance!

First off, make a reservation as soon as you can! Making the earliest lunch reservation can really help get you a water side table. If it's dinner you want there, then make a reservation and when you check in tell them you would like a water side table. You may have to wait a bit, but I'm sure they will accomodate you!

No matter what time you make a reservation for be sure to check in at least 20 minutes early (they may not let you check in earlier than that, we tried to check in once 30 minutes early and they told us we had to come back in 10 minutes) and when you check in let them know you would like waterside seating and you are willing to wait. They may give you some insane wait time (we were told 45 minutes) but it's worth it. We were seated at our reservation time so you never know. To ensure you get waterside make a reservation for 11:30 am, the first 4 tables seated automatically get the waterside tables. :)

In our experience, they have not noted the table request in our reservation. You have to show up early(about 20 minutes?) and request a waterside table at the podium, when checking in.

They'll likely tell you it will be a bit of a wait, but as the PP stated, if you are among the first lunch reservations, we've never had to wait for more than 10 minutes to get the table we wanted.

Good Luck!:)

They used to take requests for waterside. They stopped a couple years ago.

The best way to get waterside is to make a lunch reservation for right when they open at 11:30. Then arrive by 11:10 at the latest for check-in and request it when you check-in. They will accommodate you if at all possible and for me they have always been able to do it.

Second choice is just to wait it out until waterside is available.

I took DD13 there for dinner last May.

Our seating was for 6pm I think, we got there about 15 minutes early and requested a water side table. The girl told me it would be at least 45 minutes and sent us off with a pager to do some shopping.

We went straight to the ladies room, and what do you know, the pager went off the moment I sat down lol.

It was a really nice evening. We got to witness a really romantic proposal a few tables down, which coupled with the wedding including Cinderella coach that we saw while staying at DLH has given DD13 some pretty grandiose ideas for when she gets married lol.

100% agree with previous posters: we had a 4:40pm reservation for a 13th wedding anniversary dinner and we requested waterside and that we were willing to wait. They said 30-45 minutes and it turned out to only be about 10 minutes, but luckily for me I wasn't in the men's room!:rotfl2:

I assume they tell you 45 minutes to burn off those people who only kind of sort of want waterside, or those too hungry to wait! :thumbsup2

We went last September and when checking in we asked for a "Waterside Table" and were told 45 min, we waited maybe 30 with a pager and were seated Water Side. The only problem was it was the table to the far left of the restaurant next to the servers station with an ok view....It was our 20th Anniversary and wish I would have asked for a table in the middle of the Waterfront. Lesson learned.

Like many PP have said, we too made reservations (For 2 of us) for 4pm dinner. We also requested a waterside table and checked in about 20 min early. Both years we were told 45 minutes but in 2012 we were seated right at 4pm and last year by 4:45.

It really is worth the wait. We had the same table both times and it is one of our favorite dinning experiences in the park!

Do the water front tables take groups of 4-5(we will have 2 adults, a 4yo,a2yo and a baby)?

This is exactly what I've done for our trip next month, making the 11:30 reservation. I cannot wait!

There are two tables on the water that can handle a group of six maximum. We have gotten one of those tables four times.

We've always done what Hydro Guy suggests & have only had waterside seating (even with a party of 6!) so I definitely suggest using that plan of attack! :)

Check in a little early, ask nicely and make sure and tell them you would be willing to wait as long as it takes!

You're going to have a great time!

We were there on 01/31 for dinner. We had 8:30 dinner reservations. I checked in at 8:10 and requested waterside. They gave me 30-45 minute wait. I was actually not willing to wait that long, so I told him we'll just wait for 1st available seating. He must have forgotten to take the request off, because lo and behold my pager went off at 8:30 (our reservation time) and was seated waterside. woo hoo!!! :) So, do check in early and request it. If you are willing to wait, or as in my case, not lol, you'll get the tables by the water. Good luck!!!

We just ate there today with a 1:40 reservation. We showed up at 1:35 and asked for a water side table. They told us it would be 30 minutes but within 10 minutes our waterside table was ready :)

I've never eaten there WITHOUT sitting waterside!
My feeling is "why bother" if you can't sit there. You are far away from the Pirate boats going by, the peaceful river, etc.

I have never had to wait long.
Always ask. There's an older guy who works there, been there forever. He's pretty snotty. Still ask. Other people work there. He tries to deter you, but don't.

I always feel kinda bad for people sitting way in the back by the bussing stations. I can't imagine that's a great Blue Bayou experience!

Awesome, thanks for the advice! Is there a better time of day to go there for either lunch or dinner? Our reservations are for 5:30 right now, but I'm wondering if the wait is longer for that time. I guess my main question is, is it worth going there for lunch instead of a nice dinner?
