blue bayou or Rainforest Cafe?

I would definitely choose Blue Bayou over Rainforest Cafe. I am a huge fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, so for me, what better place to have dinner than inside my favorite ride in Disneyland. I just do not think it gets any better sitting beside the water watching the boats go by, while I drink a cold glass of ice tea.

We might have to choose between one of these restaurants. Which would you do?

thanks!
We've eaten at both many times. The food isn't that great at the Rainforest Cafe. You pay for the atmosphere. We love Blue Bayou, but it is pricey as well. Go at lunch time, same menu and atmosphere - a must see for a visit to Disneyland :o)

Well said. I continue to visit the Rainforest knowing this full well. My upcoming visit to DL will be my first experience at the Blue Bayou. I can't even express my anticipation! :woohoo:

Haven eaten at both the Blue Bayou and Rainforest Cafe on the same trip, I would prefer to return to the Rainforest Cafe. I have only eaten at the BB twice, both last year, Rainforest Cafe several times. I often crave BB's Monte Cristo sandwich, but I didn't think the restaurant was all that it's hyped up to be. Each person will basically pay about $25 - $30 at the BB if you go during dinner.

Rainforest is cheaper (but still on the pricey side), you can get a burger for about $8.00, fries and drink are additional, and yes you do get more for your money. Also offer an AP discount for those of you AP holders reading, we kept forgetting to use ours throughout Downtown Disney!

Think I read you're going with a teen? Rainforest will be more interesting and fun. Oh, and if the line or wait is ridiculously long, you can always ask to sit in the bar area - I believe those under 21 can't sit at the actual bar, but they have small tables in that area which are open to all ages. You should be seated almost right away. But you'll miss out on all the fun animal stuff, doing this is better if you're a party of 3 who are only interested in eating and not really there to see the rest of the place.

BB and RFC are our two favorites at DLR. I would say RFC is much better for younger children. BB is better for adults. For teens and tweens I think they both work. BB is more expensive so I would do RFC if it came down to money.

Have to agree with Trey here. We hopefully will be doing both.

For the food, I choose RFC. Plus you can get a mai tai. ;)

For the atmosphere...I like them both. People say that RFC is a chain, but the one local is not that great, while the one at DTD is much better. So even though they are a chain, they aren't carbon copies, they have their differences.

BB is really dark and difficult for me b/c Lasik caused problems with light/dark vision for me. RFC is better for me.

But being inside the start of POTC is definitely unique!

My vote if for BB, atmosphere, yummy food, and the cookie boat! RFC is a chain restaurant, which is apart of Landry's. When I go to Disney I want places that are special and my favorite out of all the parks I have been to is BB.

I agree, if this is your only trip to DL, it has to be BB. Don't expect the food to be great, but not terrible, either. If just has to be done at least once, and if this is your "once", do it! Bring a little flashlight for the menu. There have been times I can't read the menu. Don't forget reservations at Disney Dining (714)781-3463 or run right there when the park opens. They do sell out.
