I would like to treat my mom to something nice for taking me to DL, but seeing as I'm a teen lacking a job :headache:, dinner at the Blue Bayou would be out of price range. So I was thinking of just getting desert. Is the desert good/worth it? How do I have the best chance of getting a waterside table?

How thoughtful of you!

I think the dessert would be worth it. Not just because of the dessert itself but because there is such a wonderful atmosphere in the BB, especially at a waterside table. Make a reservation ahead of time and check in early and ask for waterside. We have always been surprised at how quickly we are seated at one probably because we go at off meal times, like 2:30 well after lunch time.

The dessert menu includes vanilla bean creme brulee, chocolate cake, pecan pie, and ice cream. at least that is what it says on another website.

Thanks for the advice! I think I am gonna do it :)

What would be the best evening/night time? The date is October 11, so the park hours are unreleased. I want to see WOC that night-should I do BB before or after? If I call to make a reservation, will they know the park hours?

I think you will have to do BB before WOC because most likely disneyland will be closing at 8 p.m. on a Thursday night.

If it were me, I'd make 4 p.m. reservations, but you could do 5. But it might be a little more crowded with folks there for dinner.

Just my opinion. :goodvibes

Oh, and I will be there too! Our stay starts on the Tuesday before. I am getting so excited!

In looking at the last few years schedules, it appears that Disney has extended park hours during the Halloween season. So there may be a chance the park will be open much later then 8pm, even on a Thursday night during "slow season".

I am a little unsure about the times also, because in late September, the parks are only open till eight. But touring plans predicted hours for my date are until 11. So if I call reservations, will they know how late the park is open?

We are leaving Tuesday also!

UPDATE:

I just made my reservation! :cool1: It is for 9:20, so I'm guessing the park is open till 11 that day.

I have another question. If we see World of Color at DCA at 8:15, can we make back to the Blue Bayou for our reservation?

No, you should call back and change your reservation time. WoC is about 30 minutes, then you have to add time to get out of there and get over to DLR and the BB, I think you're cutting it too close.....

Well, the problem is the restaurant closes at 10. Bummer, I had hoped we could get out of DCA and over to BB in about 25 minutes- I guess we will just have to skip WOC :(

Hi :wave2: :)

This is great news. It never dawned on me that the parks would be open later than 8 on weekdays that are not Halloween party nights during "slow" season. Now I'm "gladder" lol than ever that we're staying on Harbor, even if it is the Anaheim Plaza. We will definitely be taking afternoon breaks.

Hi theworldneedscolor,

You can't do WOC one night and BB on a different one?

You might make it from DCA to the BB in the nick of time, but it would depend on how crowded the parks are.

Well, we will only have a Thursday night and a Friday night in the parks, and Friday night we are doing the Halloween party, so no WOC then. I'd love to see it, but not sure how to make it fit into our trip :confused3

Even a not so crowded DCA can still be quite hectic getting out of the view area after a showing of WoC.

Personally, I would rather watch WOC than have dessert at Blue Bayou. I would watch WOC and go somewhere else for dessert (maybe Carthay or Ghiradeli?). There are lots of options for dessert, but only one WOC! :thumbsup2

Well, I definitely want to fit Blue Bayou in on our trip, because we never have before and we had planned on it last time, but had to cancel because of budget. So this time, I want to treat her! I would like to do Carthay Circle, but it is even more expensive than Blue Bayou. Could I go to Carthay Circle for just appetizers? Maybe I could do that before WOC and do Blue Bayou in the afternoon the next day.. Decisions, decisions, decisions!

There is a very beautiful lounge downstairs at Carthay that serves apps and small plates. They also have dessert.

Oh I'm sorry, I just don't think that's enough time. It's taken us up to 40 min. just to get out of the WoC area. :(

ghiradelli was so much fun for DD and I, we actually had ice cream for breakfast the day we left. LOL And yes, CCT is amazing!!! Go there! :)

Does it take reservations? And also, it is a lounge, but minors are allowed, correct?

the lounge is great, no reservations and yes, minors are allowed. (as ArchOwl said) We ordered from the small plates menu, we had warm olives in olive oil and watermelon with Mango sorbet, sooooooooooooo good.......and your Mom could perhaps have a cocktail with your late night snack or dessert. :)

I understand the appeal of BB, is it possible to do it earlier in the day?

If you really want to fit BB into your trip, it doesn't really matter the time of day because the ambiance is the same. No difference if its night or day. Its always "evening" in BB.

Dessert at CC or another place is fine, but nowhere near the atmosphere of BB, in my opinion, of course.
