Title says it all.....why has The Blue bayou done away with appetizers? I loved having their Isle Cruces Crab Cakes.....and although they still offer them as an entre, my entre of choice is a filet mignon.

Now to get my "fix" I'm going to have to purchase 2 entres for myself!!! I'll do it because I so look forward to these foods but it just seems like such a waste.....I know I won't eat everything:confused3

they probably wanted to move people through a bit faster.

and the size of the portions probably made a lot of people stop ordering them.

last time we ate there we could not finish the meals because of the amount.

I think they got rid of them because people like me were only ordering the appetizers LOL :) I would order the crab cakes only and they used to be less $ now I order the crab cakes and get a salad too :) mmm. Am hungry now :goodvibes

You might want to consider asking if you can get the crab cakes as an appetizer even though it's not on the menu. Perhaps, as LuLu says, they wanted to keep people from taking up tables and not spending for full entrees. If they see that you are not a cheapskate, they may make an exception for you.

Worth a shot before ordering two entrees. Ask for the manager if necessary -- they do have the power to discount the meal.

I know I'm really dissapointed, too! Our DD7 has a LOVE of steak- medium rare! She does not like the Bayou potatoes or celery. carrot sticks. So just the child portion of steak was not enough for her as she barely eats the rest of the day. So on our last trip, I ordered the crab cakes and adult steak. She at the steak and bread while I had the soup, sides and crab cakes as my entree. It was perfect. Now I'm thinking of getting the surf and turf and letting her have the filet. It's a drag but it won't keep us from going there

I doubt they would do this. When they took the soup off of the menu as an option for an appetizer, you were not allowed to pay extra. I love the wedge salad and wanted that AND a cup of soup as this was our big meal of the day. They said there was no longer an option on their computer to place the order. And I was willing to pay extra for it. Others here on the board confirmed it as well but I thought I would try/ I was shot down.

I too was surprised at the change of menu on our last trip (in May). We have gone to BB every trip, at least like 20 times and I liked those extra options. But not only have they done away with apps they also nixed the spinach as a 3rd option of a side. I was totaly bummed since this is the only side I liked here and usually doubled up on that and didn't have the veg or potatoes. The salad used to be a wedge salad too and thats been changed to a chopped salad but I prefer the new salad it was yummy.

The salad is now a chopped salad? ***?!?!?! Does it still have the same sausage, etc on top or is it now a generic lettuce, mini tomato kind?

I was bummed on our last trip when instead of a soup and salad i had to choose between the two.....for the price I'm paying I EXPECT to receive both.....

I'm honestly really disappointed with BB for these decisions....

Yes it still has the andouille sausage, there would have been a riot at our table if there wasn't! Its actually a good salad a nice mix of stuff not just all iceburg. The is still "our" place and we will still go every trip im sure but im a little disappointed too.

I don't personally care whether it's a wedge salad with iceberg, a chopped salad with mixed greens etc......the toppings are what I care about.....if I start getting the standard lettuce, onion, tomato garbage then we're gonna have problems LOL

What can I say I like the andouille sausages!
