Blue Aurora/Sleeping Beauty Dress ~

Have you tried etsy.com? (A site for selling handmade.) I am pretty sure I saw one on there recently - if not, I am sure you could find someone on etsy to make it for you. You can either find a regular pink one and ask for the person to make it in blue, or you can put out a request for a custom order and I bet you'll get some responses. Good luck!

I didn't personally think it would be dreadfully hard to make, but I did a quick Google search and Simplicity no longer sells the "official" patterns to make an Aurora dress! :( McCalls and probably Butterick make unofficial patterns but McCalls', at least, does not look much like Aurora's, IMO. (Though if your trip is in summer, the short sleeves would be a plus! ;) )

But homemade costumes are always sweeter. I agree that having someone make it (whether your mom or someone on Etsy) is probably the best choice to get what you want.

My favorite version of her dress is actually an adult-sized display at Downtown Disney, where it's parti-colored, so the left half (viewer's left) is pink and the right half is blue. Too cute! :)

That's my favorite too. I love it!!! And I love when you leave the walk thru and the dress on the book changes colors, for a split second it's blue and pink at the same time so it's really purple! lol :)

And even white! :)

I love etsy but the prices for princess dresses are pretty steep if you can make it yourself. This seller has a Sleeping Beauty dress and she will make it in PINK or BLUE. If money isn't and issue and time is then maybe this is the one for you. If money matters then maybe your mom can make it herself.

Good luck!

About four years ago my dd (then 4) couldn't decide if she wanted Aurora's Pink or Blue dress so she asked my sister to make her one that was both. Here is the result:

We went to both WDW and DL that year and the dress was such a hit. A mom actually offered me $200 in a line to buy it from me. LOL!!

Tinkerbelle's Mom, that is brilliant! Too cute! Your sister should really look into selling them on Etsy!

As for the Etsy dress specialks linked, that IS a lot more than I'd pay to have one made. It's cotton fabric, which is SO easy to sew with--I'm sure the seamstress is getting a fair price for her labor, but I don't sew that fast and if I were making them for sale, I know I couldn't get any sellers by charging that much. Actually, my bridesmaid dress did not cost that much. :flower3:

Honestly, I think I'd hit up your mom and ask her to make one. Does she like sewing? If I had a niece who wanted a cute costume like that I would consider it a pleasure and honor to do it, and even if I had a friend who needed a costume and couldn't sew, I'd think about it. If she doesn't enjoy it/wouldn't be thrilled to do it, you could offer to pay her something for her time.

My sister only sews for the pleasure of it. She usually makes matching outfits for her dd and my dd for our joint vacations. My dsis loved making the dress for my dd but I am not sure she would do it again! lol

The two-color dress would not be THAT much harder than a one-color dress, but I can see where your sister wouldn't want to do it again--that fabric has got to be a pain. I mostly sew for dolls :flower3: but I'm getting pretty tempted to make one of those for dolls now! :)

DisneyMomma81, did you come to any decision yet? :)

I went ahead and ordered the one on Amazon ~ those etsy prices are crazy!! I'll let you know what I think about it when it arrives ~ I hope it's not huge on her, I ordered the 6-8 ~ she's a petite almost 6 year old.
