Is the walk to Magic Kingdom from BLT similar in length to the walk to Epcot from BWV? We just returned from Boardwalk and loved walking over to Epcot in the evenings. So next year I was thinking about trying Bay Lake Towers if it was a similar experience to walk over.
Thanks!

Length is similar I believe.

It's a little different experience though since at BWV you're walking thru a themed area. BLT to MK is walking past the parking lots, across the road and past the bus stops. When we stay there we walk and don't take the monorail.

Thanks! The length is what I was wondering about. The themed area at BWV is so nice, and I know I will miss it. But next year we will have one day at Disney after our cruise and the family wants to go to Magic Kingdom, so I thought this may be a good choice for us if the walk isn't too far.

Actually it is a little longer walk if you are counting from the distance to the gate. It is 0.4649 miles from BLT entrance to MK. And from the Boardwalk in front of BWV it is 0.3577 miles to the International Gateway or 0.4417 miles to the World Showcase walkway. Like Kat4Disney said it isn't as attractive but you can see the monorail go by as the sidewalk follows the monorail track, and you walk by the MK buses, and the ferry boats.

I guess I will need to do some research. We just love the scenery at Boardwalk, but walking to Magic Kingdom sounds nice (even if it isn't themed). Thanks so much!

It isn't a pleasant walk at all - the buses are moving through that area, and traffic - it has a lot of diesel fumes and feels more like you are walking through a busy parking lot than anywhere I've been at Disney - including their parking lots.

When I stay at BLT (I own there), I never take the monorail to the MK, we always walk. It takes under 10 mins, usually less if it's just adults walking! I've done it in 6, but I hit the pedestrian walkway light just right!! Sure, there are buses there, and a parking lot. But it's not as if you're walking in the breakdown lane of 95!!

We just did a split stay between the both in August and my first answer before reading was that BLT was quicker. Obviously I was wrong but it must be so close that you won't notice. I loved loved being at BLT and walking to MK. We only took the Monorail once and that was just so we could. 2 times during the 4 days at BLT we tried to take the monorail but it was down so we just walked. You cannot beat that location. The busses didn't bother us at all.

Thanks! We only have one day after our 4 night cruise, and will be taking one of my DDs and her friend (who has never been to Disney). They want to go just to MK since it is only one day (and her friend hasn't seen any of the parks, so MK is the must go to place). I know my DH and I are exhausted after the cruise, so I thought we would like to be able to easily walk back to our room in the afternoon and rest so we can return for the fireworks that night. We are going to miss the beauty of the Boardwalk, but the ease of getting to MK seems nice. It is going to be a hard decision. lol

For one day, and for a tenth of a mile difference in walk, I'd definitely stay at BLT since you're just planning to go to the MK. We stayed there once and we loved being able to walk over to the park plus there is the monorail option if anyone doesn't feel like walking.

That is what I am thinking. I love the Boardwalk, but the ease of just walking to MK would be nice.

It will give us a chance to try out BLT also. We usually go back and forth between BWV and BCV (in my family of 4, 3 like BCV the best, and 1 (me) likes BWV, so since I make the reservations, I rotate between the two). It might be nice to try a new one since it will be more convenient anyway. Thanks!

Although, most DVC rooms will be a good bit away from the center exit of BWV-- adding enough to the walk to make it as long or longer then BLT-- Especially if you are on the side facing the S&D.
