BLT viewing deck

I talked with MS today regarding BLT fireworks viewing deck. She said they were given a small amount of info that stated the deck will be a walk-up only. No reservations will be given. Once max capacity is reached each day, they will close it off to anyone else. She believed it would be open from 5pm-10pm. Also, it will have drinks and small appetizers for sale, but will be standing room only - no tables or chairs.

I had trouble finding info on this elsewhere, so I figured I would post this if anyone else is interested.

From what I heard, there are actually 2 areas - an outdoor viewing deck and an inside bar/lounge. Sounds like this info is for the outdoor deck. Never heard of a bar that was standing room only. You also will not be able to see much inside if the room is full of standees unless you are in front.

Personally, I'd much rather watch the fireworks in the park, then take a nice stroll back to my room at BLT. I love the atmosphere of being in the park and watching the fireworks.

It has been stated that Contemporary guests will not be allowed in.

My guide also told me that access to the deck would be limited to DVC members staying at BLT, and that "cash" guests would not be allowed. Has anyone else heard that?

That has been reported here on the DIS by others as well - the lounge as well as observation deck. It is very enticing and I am hoping to stay there sometime myself.

I did take a look at the BLT page on DisneyWorld.com and there is no mention of the lounge or the deck.

I definitely remember the DVC guy on the cruise last week saying that access to the lounge would be only for DVC members staying at BLT on points. No cash guests, no Contemporary guests.

Also never heard of a bar with no tables or chairs - it won't get much business outside fireworks time if that is so. I do tend to believe they are talking about the observation deck when they say standing room only.

Excellent! Should make it easier to get access. I wonder what capacity will be? We are only spending 3 nights there with the rest elsewhere but hopefully we will get in on our moving in day.

I guess we will have to wait and see. I booked a cash reservation at BLT for a studio for the first weekend in Sept and I was told that I would have access to the lounge...
Can't wait until August to see what happens.

I read somewhere that the only access to BLT will be through keycard doors, and this will keep the regular contemporary guests out of the building altogether. Maybe that will be how they keep people out. I guess we will see.

I believe this was also repeated in Jack Spence's blog on allears.net - that access was only for BLT points guests. So a BLT member staying at VWL wouldn't have access, but a VWL member staying at BLT on points would.
