How do you rate the transportation to Epcot from BLT? I know the "free" option is to use the monorail but I assume during certain times of year & times of day it might be a challenge. I like the idea of walking to MK, don't mind taking a bus to DHS/AK, but have a feeling we would end up taking a Lyft to Epcot.

Cannot speak for whatever may occur in the future when the parks open with coronavirus restrictions, but in the past, I have found the double monorail trip to be adequate, normally taking no more than 30 minutes total, most of which is spent waiting for the two separate monorails. Longer times result when leaving the nightly show, because you may have to wait for a second monorail train from Epcot. The worst part of the trip is actually the switching of monorails at TTC, caused by having to switch sides at the station, requiring a walk down to street level and then an arduous walk back up to the monorail going to Epcot, or going back to BLT. Lyft is a possibility but costly, and you can have delays waiting for it if returning from Epcot right after the nightly show.

I actually thought the transportation to Epcot was pretty good. Quicker than bus waits unless you get really unlucky and get there just as a monorail is leaving. Now it has gotten even better since the Epcot monorail exit has been put inside security. So you just have to go through once at the contemporary and you’re set.

I have done both. I will Lyft in the morning and then monorail when we leave because we aren’t in a rush.

But, it’s why I split stay even when 4 nights, so i can easily get to parks. Then I only Lyft to AK and DS.

And yes, it is now part of my Disney budget! Lol

We've always used the monorail. Plan for 30 minutes and except for leaving after fireworks the wait is very predictable. It always feels like the resort monorail is about to fall apart on the track, but hasn't happened yet. (curiously the only significant breakdown we've been in was the epcot monorail back to TTC about 20 years ago)

Plus, I think with the just-completed new security lines, you're already in the bubble on the monorail so should be able to skip the Epcot bag check. (wasn't like that when we were there Sep 30, but I think they rearranged the security lines by now.)

HA! This is us. We don't split stay for a short trip, but for a 6-night or longer trip, we split between an MK and an EP resort. We go to MK and AK while staying near MK, and then EP/HS while staying near there. Then we only take a bus to AK (and really don't go to DS)

That said, the kids loooove riding the monorail, so occasionally (every other trip) we will take the monorail from BLT or VGF to EP. Our stroller days are numbered, however. Which means it'll be easier for the grownups not to push a heavy, loaded stroller up those ramps, but the kids will probably complain about all the additional walking. 🤷‍♀️

Once you Lyft to AK in morning, you’ll never do bus. Lol.

Oh, we've done it, but during heavy traffic times, sometimes the bus is faster and less of a wait. ETA: also because DD2 is still of an age that requires car seats/boosters under FL law, our options were limited to Minnie Vans. Sometimes the waits for those were simply not worth it, even though the ride was lovely. ETA again: we have since bought a booster seat that we is more portable and will bring it with us...

Our new-to-the-budget item is taking a car service to and from the airport instead of DME. We started doing that when we'd start our stays at the Swolphin, which doesn't have DME service. And then it was a slippery slope.

What do you do with it once you are at the parks? Locker? Stroller? The carseat dilemma seems to be the biggest transportation issue for us at WDW

I find getting back to BLT from EPCOT to be more of a hassle than getting there. Leaving at park closing can result in a long line for the monorail to get back to BLT, and then you have to make the clockwise loop around stopping at 2 resorts and MK before getting to BLT.

Going is never really to big of a deal to me.

End your EPCOT stay near the IG, walk over to BCV and take a bus to MK or use the Skyway to Dis Studios and bus to BLT.

Hm. For our FL trips only, we might use our Mifold, which conforms to federal safety regs, but is about the same size as a small clutch purse.... Agree that even the next size up folding booster (Graco), which we also have, would be sort of a pain to lug around the parks. We haven't tried this yet, since we had not encountered any issues with the car seat requirement until our most recent stay.

I find the monorail ride back to BLT from Epcot to be long, especially at the end of the night.

Our last trip we had crisscrossed most of future world and then took the loop around the world showcase. By the time we got to France, we were done. We took a boat to BW and on the way called a Lyft. When we got to the front of BW it was there for us and had a quick ride back. It was hot and we were tired and not looking forward to the walk to the front of the park.
