We'll be staying at BWV towards the end of August. We would like to check out BLT. Do we have to sign up for a tour or can we check it out on our own? Do they have models over there or do we have to go over to the DVC center at SSR?
Thanks!

the model rooms are over at SSR. not sure there would be much to see at BLT itself.

In the past, when a new property opens, DVC has had models available for viewing at the new resort. This was true at Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club. Not sure if that will happen at BLT when it opens next week.

You can tour the BLT models at Saratoga Springs without taking an official tour daily from 5 pm to 7 pm. The models are located near the DVC Preview Center. Just follow the signs.

Hi Robert! (we bought our BWV from you)
Thanks for the info. My son wants to check out BLT so I guess we'll just wander over there the day we have ressies at Cali Grill. He wants to check out the walkway that connects the 2 buildings.

If you are already a DVC member, the BLT models are over at SSR and available for member viewing between 5-7pm daily.

We just got back Tuesday, saw the models @ SSR, they are nice.

Just so you don't get your hopes up, I'm not sure if you'll be able to access the walkway. We toured BLT last week with the Vacation as You Wish event, and we were told that the walkway (in addition to the lounge) would be locked off and require a key card to get through. I remember it specifically because he pointed out that if you were sending a kid over to the Contemporary for something (food, store, etc) you'd have to make sure she had a key to get back to the room, otherwise she'd be trapped on the other side of the door.

You may want to clarify with a DVC rep before you head over there...maybe they can walk you through?

Mulan2,

Looks like you are enjoying your Boardwalk membership. Welcome Home.

The last poster is most likely correct. We won't know until next week for sure when BLT opens, but it looks like that a room key will be needed to access the sky bridge to get to the tower.

I also attended the Member event a few weeks ago, and as good as the viewing of the Magic Kingdom fireworks are from The Top of the World Lounge and observation deck, the view from the sky bridge is better. The perspective of the fireworks and the castle work so much better from the bridge.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for posting this Robert. Glad to know there will be better viewing options than a lounge area that may be at capacity.

Guess we'll have to have multiple stays at BLT to try viewing everything (Lounge MK fireworks, lounge Epcot fireworks, balcony MK fireworks, balcony Epcot fireworks, bridge for fireworks, ...). :lmao:

Kylene-
Thanks for the heads up. My DS won't be too disappointed if he can't get onto the walkway. He calls BLT the Sandwich Tower.
Robert-
We've stayed at SSR and AKV so far and that's in one year! We are looking forward to our home resort of BWV. Already thinking about where to stay next! LOL.

Wow, that is some interesting info. Thanks for sharing, very good to know. We are staying at BLT in August and this may come in handy!

We have discussed watching the fireworks from the walkway off and on. One thought always pops up, since it is a walkway/bridge, will Disney restrict viewing of the fireworks from there as a safety issue? People can't get through, or a weight limit if too many stand out there.

Is there anything like that at other DVC resorts, where a place would be perfect for viewing an event like fireworks but Disney restricts it's use?
