Just trying to get an idea on the size of the viewing deck on BLT. Is it essentially the entire "roof top" of the center tower of BLT? I hope to watch Hallowishes on Oct 31, but I'm wondering how big of area there is up there? If its going to be really crowded,..I'm not interested. I'm not interested in the lounge, as I understand it definitely can get crowded.

I believe it's pretty much the entire park-facing side of the center building's roof-top.

You can't really have a great view from the lounge so most move out to the deck at fireworks time. The deck holds a couple of hundred people. IMO with the decrease in high fireworks and more low fireworks and castle projections, watching from BLT isn't what it used to be. Watching from the bridge between BLT and the Contemporary or from the Contemporary deck is just as good.

I understand to access the lounge you need a blue membership card (which I have) and need to have an onsite reservation. Does the same rule apply to the viewing deck? I'll be staying offsite on the night of Oct 31, but have a late dinner reservation at Chef Mickeys. I would love to slip up to see Hallowishes after we're done eating. Will I be able to?

That's good to know, if we can't get up to the viewing deck / lounge. Is music piped into the walkway?

I was going to say, the walkway is just as good, or if you go to the top floor of the Contemporary and peek out from what I think was the fire escape. We paid $$$ for a castle view room and I thought the fire escape (or whatever is to the far left, maybe it was another walkway or something) had the better view.

We could hear the music for HEA all over, idk if the Contemporary pipes the music everywhere outside or if there were that many people who tuned the tv to the music channel and left their balcony doors open. But idk about Hallowishes, I'm not sure if they put that soundtrack on the music channel or not. We were actually at MNSSHP so I don't have experience watching that one from the Contemporary.

You need to check in at the lobby with a blue or white card to get access to the elevator. I'm pretty sure that you have to be staying onsite but I don't think that they really check.

Yes you hear the music on the walkway and the deck at the Contemporary which is right next to the walkway.

On October 31 TOTW will be quite busy and they may enforce an on-site stay.

TOTW is open to both blue and white cards.

The viewing area at the TOTWL runs about two-thirds of the front of the building. I agree if there are a lot of people I would not enjoy being there. I really prefer to stand at the 4 foot wall facing Seven Seas Lagoon so I can see as I am short and cannot see over other adults.

You do NOT need a blue card; a white/electronic card allow for access. The TOTWL is open to all members/owners. An on-site reservation is required according to the posted rules. It doesn't have to be a points reservation; any on-site room will qualify for access. There are various reports that they don't verify the room reservation requirement, so you might be allowed up, but it will be entirely up to the cast member who checks you in.

We've had some CMs that only wanted to see our DVC card and others that wanted our DVC card AND scanned our magic bands for reservation info
