BLT to DHS...quickest way?

Last year, when we stayed at BLT, we took the CR bus to AK. First of all, we waited a solid 15-20 mins for a bus to AK. Then they stopped at WL, Poly and GF before finally heading to AK. It took 50 mins to get there and we were late for a YES class we were signed up for.

No YES classes this year but I'd still like to find the quickest way to get to DHS from BLT. Do we walk to MK and take the DHS bus from there? Or take the monorail to the TTC and get on the DHS bus there? Or take the DHS bus from CR?

Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Well, the quickest way is to take a cab. Right behind that is to drive yourself in a rental car. If you mean the quickest way via Disney transportation, that's likely to be taking the bus from CR. There is no bus to DHS from the MK directly (at least not until they get the new bus expansion done at MK). There is a bus from TTC to DHS, but you'd have to take the monorail to the TTC, then the bus, and that involves two waits. Even though the DHS bus generally makes multiple stops, it's still only one wait. Obviously if you hit things just right, you might save a little time by taking the monorail to the TTC and then taking the DHS bus from there.

Once the bus depot expansion is done, you could walk over to the MK and take a bus from there. I still think you're likely to get there faster with the CR bus, but it really depends on how many other resorts it's sharing with that week. Heck, once the bus depot is done, they might share the CR-DHS route with the MK-DHS, so it would be the same bus.

The delays and frustration you describe is why we always rent a car. But cabs are also a nice way to go, albeit somewhat pricey.

For something as time critical as the Youth Educational Series class, you need to allow yourself more time! Remember, also, that the sweet spot bus could be too full to take you so you have to plan on catching the bus before that one.

Buses start ca. 6:30 AM.

If your restaurant reservation or whatever is at Animal Kingdom and at or before its opening, you should use the bus. There is a chance that an automobile (yours, rented, or chauffeured) will get stuck at the AK toll plaza that hadn't opened yet.

Via WDW transportation, the fastest way will be taking the bus from your resort. You should always allow an hour, maybe a bit more when you're traveling from a deluxe resort.

Thank you everyone! We'll stick to the resort bus.

And for last year, we were told by the CM at the resort to allow 35 mins to get to AK. We planned on 45mins. In reality, it took 50 mins. And while this won't be a YES class, we do want to be at DHS before opening so we'll allow an hour just to be safe.
