We are going in april with 4 adults in a BLT studio. Who has done this and were you able to get by. Originally on 2 were going but now 4 and no 1bdr are available for when are going.

It is going to be tight; hope you are all good friends....

I have stayed 4 adults in a standard room at POR; and 3 adults in a studio at SSR (355 sq. ft). The studios at BLT are 300 sq. ft. I was more comfortable at POR with 4, than at SSR with 3.

The biggest problem is storage of your luggage and room around the sofa bed when it is open. I also cannot imagine if I had shared the sofa bed with another person; I had it to myself and it was just comfortable enough.

However, the tub/toilet area is a bit bigger than a regular standard room and the sink is right outside, so at least two people can get ready in the morning at the same tim.

Sorry, but that sounds like a real nightmare to me. These studios are the smallest of all DVC studios and I wouldn't put four in any studio but OKW. Even that would not be ideal.

You need to try for another studio for the other two adults. Or try for an OKW studio. You'll save points.

My in-laws stayed in a studio when they traveled with us this past NOvember and having been in the room.........I think there would be a lot of tripping over one another to have 4 adults in a studio. Just my opinion.

That just sounds awful to me. We thought 4 people, 2 adults and 2 children, was a tight fit in a SSR one bedroom. I can not imagine putting 4 adults, and all of their stuff, in a smaller place.

is there somewhere I can find the square footages of the various rooms in the various properties??

It depends on the amount of space and privacy needed by the adults. My husband and I are very comfortable in the studio at BLT. If we were to go with my parents we would have been fine but if we were to go with my sister (and no one else) we would not have been. There is a lot of storage room in BLT but not too much room for suitcases once they are unpacked- lots of drawers and cabinets for things though.

If you are fairly close and comfortable with one another than it shouldn't be too much of a problem- if any of you really like having your own space it is a different story.

There is no way I could do 4 adults in a studio unless it was OKW this way we would both have a queen bed. For me 2 adults in the full sleeper would not work.

That doesn't sound like a vacation to me unless it was that choice or not going at all. Or you are all used to sharing a bedroom at home.

I agree with the OKW as the best suggestion or if necessary any other studio except than AKV value or BLT studio for 4 adults.

SSR's studio is 344 sq. ft. and BLT's is only 329. A typical room at POR is 314 sq. ft. I think people get use to having a larger room with less people at the DVC. If you and your friends are comfortable with a regular hotel room, you could probably do the BLT studio.

That may be, but the space is used differently. There is no kitchenette in the POR room. So there is no space going to that function. The bathroom (tub and toilet room) at BLT is fairly large, much larger than most of the tub/toilet rooms at the resorts (OKW has the entire bathroom in one room - sink, toilet, tub - so it isn't included in this discussion). Plus there is one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa in the SSR and BTL studio - POR has two double beds. So ultimately, POR has more open floor space than BLT, making it feel more spacious.

We stayed with 4 people last summer, but one was my 13 year old and one was my 16 year old.

It was a bit tight and we did it for only 2 nights. I am not sure it would be my first choice again (am doing a 1 bedroom next summer) but I think you can make it work, especially if everyone likes each other.

The hardest part, I think, will be finding a place to keep all the luggage so it is out of the way. We kept it near the lock off door, which helped a great deal.

I am sure you are WL'd for the 1 bedroom but if it doesn't come through, you will get by. If you are hanging out in the room, you can always utilize the balcony to give yourselves a bigger feel!

Thanks guys for the post, were all family, its me my g/f of many years my brother and my best friend who is like a brother to me and my family so there is no uncomfortable feeling between any of us. I'm still trying for the 1bdr or even the 2bdr if they come available.

I picked up the figures I use from the DVCNews.com for DVC resorts or the DVC member website. The website is inconsistent on posting the room sizes. Neither place as the footage for BLT. However, since we own BLT we were given a pamphlet on BLT with floor plans and room sizes and I got the square footage from that pamphet. The non-DVC resorts I have used Allears.net, but they don't always have the figures. I also use the guidebook, "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" as they list the square footage in their accommodations section.

Here is what I have one the DVC resorts:

The square footage for each resort's two bedroom villa:

AKV Kidani - 1173
Jambo - 1075
Value - 945
BCV - 1083
BLT - 1152
BWV - 1073
OKW - 1395
SSR - 1075
VWL - 1080

Or consider a three bedroom villa at the Treehouse Villas at SSR. They sleep 9 and currently the point cost (on the 2009 and 2010 point charts) is the same as a 2 BR at SSR. The square footage is 1074.

The one bedroom villas have similar rankings as the 2 BRs where OKW is number 1, Kidani #2 and BLT #3.

AKV Kidani - 807
Jambo - 710
Value - 629
BCV - 726
BLT - 803
BWV - 712
OKW - 942
SSR - 714
VWL - 727

BLT falls behind everyone (except a Value Studio at Jambo) in comparing Studio villas. Once again OKW’s Studios are the largest.

AKV Kidani - 366
Jambo - 365
Value - 316
BCV - 365
BLT - 329
BWV - 359
OKW - 390
SSR - 344
VWL - 356

Grand Villa Comparisons - BCV and VWL are only the WDW DVC resorts that do not have Grand Villas. Jambo House and OKW are the largest with OKW having the end. However, a Jambo GV is all on one floor whereas OKW is on two floors.

AKV Kidani - 2201
Jambo - 2349
BLT - 2044
BWV - 2142
OKW - 2375
SSR - 2113

How much time are you going to spend in the room?? When we stayed there last November - it was DH and I, and my DS 13 and his friend also 13 - a huge 13 yo LOL He takes the same size pants as DH!!!! We hung up all our clothes, everyone had a drawer, piled the luggage (back packs and duffle bags) under the safe in the closet. The boys took showers at night, DH and I in the morning. The secret is organization. LOL

If you don't plan on spending a great deal of time in your room, I wouldn't worry about it. Even if you do - it's only cramped when the sofa bed is open. I close the sofa beds when not in use, even in the larger units. Whatever you decide - have a great time.

Janis can I ask, seeing as how you had two 13 yo boys sharing the sofabed I assume - did they complain about the size of the bed? (I currently have 2 yo and 6yo boys) and was wondering how long I could get away with them sharing a sofa bed before needing to spring for the 1 bed room at BLT!

Many thanks

IMHO, it's not the optimal situation. We visited for 2 nights last August (2 adults, 1 tween, 1 teen) and it was tight quarters. We loved the resort but were sorry we had not opted for a one-bedroom. But we could make do for 2 nights. For 2 adults and one small child it would probably be ok.

Good luck in getting a one-bedroom; it would be a better fit and make for a more enjoyable trip.

Well, my 20 year old son slept on it and there was room for his 13 year old sister to fit as they sometimes took a nap on it in the middle of the afternoon.

I think you have a while before you really need to worry about it.

I know it would be more comfortable to be in a 1 or 2 bedroom. But for us, we always stay in a studio, and we live through. Two adults and 2 children (8 and 6). We have only stayed once in anything larger and it was because we had developer points to use. I think you do Ok with what you are used to. This year we are taking family, my family of 4 will be in a studio and we are putting my parents and brother and sister-in-law in another studio. Is it ideal? No, but if they want to go, that is what I can offer. I do not have points for anything larger and none of them have ever stayed in a villa before, so they have nothing to compare it to. They know what I could offer (A free trip!) and no one complained. If they wanted something else, they could say no or pay for their own. We spend very little time in the room and that does make a difference. I don't mean to sound negative, but you do what you can with what you have. It is 2 of the others we are taking first trip and they are ecstatic to get what I have offered. Have fun on your trip!
