We were thinking of buying points from someone and staying at BLT Studio. I did a little reading up and according to what I read, the rooms are just 300 sq ft which is smaller than the rooms at Coronado Springs. If you have stayed in one of these studio rooms, did you feel cramped or was it set up in such a way that it had an open feel? It woud be 2 adults and 2 kids.

We stayed at BLT in a studio Oct 2010, for 5 days/4 nights. We were happy with the we could tell the difference that it was smaller but our room was awesome. We could see the monorail. It is not that much smaller & is manageable.

We have stayed at AKL - Kidani in a studio & BWV in a studio. Not much difference but a different layout. At BLT, The bathroom sink is separate from the shower & toilet area. Much easier to fix my hair & put on makeup. One of the things to me that made up for a smaller room, that & the monorail & seeing Wishes every night. We did not have a magic kingdom view room you can go on the roof or see Wishes from the bridge.

Although we have yet to stay at BLT, I have read that its studios are the smallest of the deluxe villas.

I definitely think it is safe to say that you may be a bit cramped with four people in that room, although it is certainly doable.

Hopefully someone that has stayed there can chime in with their experiences and maybe provide pics.

They are very small. Figure on two adults or maybe two adults and an infant. Four people? Nope. When the sleeper sofa is opened, there is less than a foot between the queen bed and the double sleeper sofa. And there is about the same amount of space between the sleeper and the window. There are no night stands at BLT because there is no room. The headboard on the queen bed is turned on the ends to leave a space to put the telephone and clock. The bathroom has lots of the space because of the dumb sliding door they used. Probably not enough room for a swinging door.

For a family of four, I advise a one bedroom villa. Or stay in a Contemporary Wing room. Those are very large, comfortable and less expensive than the CR tower rooms. Only three STORIES (not feet) tall, so you can easily take the stairs there. But you can't get the CR wing room for points, only cash.

My DH and I just stayed for 5 nights in one and we would never do one w/ our kids along. Two were all I'd cram in there. There was a definite difference in size between a mod. and that room. A good portion of the sq footage is in the walkway and kitchen. The living space is notably cramped.

Great suggestions. :thumbsup2

Not any more. The bathroom sink has been relocated to the bathroom because of the complains about it being in the kitchenette.

Agree. The studio rooms at BLT are ridiculously small. We could never stay there when we stay on property. In fact, one of the reasons we won't buy DVC is because the second sleeping option is usually a sofa bed. Who wants to sleep on a sofa bed on their vacation?

That makes me sad, it is one of the things I really liked being separate from the Hot steamy bathroom.

No way would I try and put 2 Adults and 2 kids in a studio. We are dvc owners at BLT and the smallest we can stand (3 adults) is a one bedroom.

they are compact but it's all about location and that a-m-a-z-i-n-g view...stepping out on balcony to see the castle (and space mt) :cloud9:. I don't own there but have been lucky enough to book it several times, always in a studio. Which was fine with one teen but i really wouldn't advise it with 2 older kids as the sofa bed is very tight to the bed/balcony.

not me but since i'm the owner of the DVC points I get the bed;). My kids are well-traveled and the 1st to complain of a lumpy sofabed, it's been years since i've heard any whining as DVC does a good job upkeeping their units.

I've stayed in many WDW resort rooms from value to deluxe, they all have their charms.:thumbsup2 When on vacation at WDW we don't spend much time in our unit since the resort amenities beckon along with the parks, so square footage isn't a big deal for us.

We also own at blt. We have done 3 7 night stays so far, with the 4th booked for next spring. On our first trip it was me, dh, our 4 mo old and my parents, and we had a lot of points, so we got a 1 bedroom. It was fantastic for the space and the 2 bedrooms. After that our two trips have been studios, with myself, dh and a toddler, which means a pnp open at all times and a stroller that we leave open. Even with all that we feel like there is plenty of room, but we never hang out in the room much either - Disney is for parks and pools! Now if we had older/bigger kids, it might be an issue, but even with a second kid I don't think it would be too small if you put the pull out away during the day. I feel like there is more space to have things put away so it doesn't feel cramped to me.

Oh, and about the bathroom mirror thing, there is still the kitchen sink plus a full length mirror and a separate counter area that I u se for getting ready in the morning while dh uses the bathroom, so you don't have to get ready in the bathroom just because they switched the sink around.

DH and myself stayed in a studio last month. We loved BLT and loved our room. I haven't stayed in any other deluxes or suites (only standard and pirate rooms at CBR) so I can't really compare the size to other "similar" rooms. As far as size of room in general IMO it is perfect for 2 adults. Any more than that would be a challenge but do able if you are willing. There is a sleeper sofa that children could sleep on. But keep in mind having the sofa pulled out would greatly decrease the amount of walking room/storage in the bedroom.

But a DVC pull-out sofa is much more comfortable than a traditional sleeper sofa. I would sleep on one.

You must be like my husband, the man can fall asleep on the driveway!

I really...REALLY appreciate all the replies. Your comments cemented my original thought......the BLT studios are NOT meant for families. Not to worry, I won an Ebay auction tonight....we're staying at OKW 1 BR. My Wife is happy because she loves having a way to wash the clothes and cook a meal. So if any of you will be at Disney the first week in Sept, I'll see you there :thumbsup2

Once again....my Wife and I really appreciated the follow-ups.

They are small, we noticed. The problem is once you get used to the 1 bedroom units. They are amazing, we did a two week trip in May and I didn't want to leave.

I agree with this. We love our 1 bedrooms. One of the reasons we have cut our vacations to every 2 years on our DVC points until we can buy more points. I don't mind staying in a studio for a trip that is short but the longer trips I am spoiled. :))
